Result of Service Objective: The overall objective of the contract is to contribute to UNEP´s Latin America and the Caribbean´s plan of work in digital communications and public information, with emphasis on audiovisual content. Through this work plan the Communication Unit contributes to position the organization as the leading environmental authority in the region, which sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimensions of sustainable development within the United Nations system.

The consultant will support the implementation of the communication strategies for the visibility of the Latin America & the Caribbean Office, including activities pertaining to the Forum of Ministers of Environment of LAC, and campaigns related to UNEP’s areas of work.

The consultant will produce 35 graphic products, including infographics (fixed and animated), social media cards and brochures. A group of 5 graphic products will be considered a product.

Outputs: Produce 35 graphic products, including infographics (fixed and animated), social media cards and brochures.

Product No. 1: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including Forum of Ministers graphic concept and planning, and International Clean Air Day graphic concept and planning.

Product No. 2: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including Restoration Flagships graphic concepts and planning, and International Clean Air Day development of graphic and web materials.

Product No. 3: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including International Clean Air Day implementation of final design assets and compilation of activities.

Product No. 4: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including Forum of Ministers development of graphic and web materials and Climate Week.

Product No. 5: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including Restoration Flagships development of graphic and web materials and Caribbean Biological Corridor.

Product No. 6: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including end of year messaging.

Product No. 7: 5 animated/fixed/video infographics related to UNEP´s milestones in LAC, including preparing templates for mailing lists, newsletters, and web designs.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Environment Programme, UNEP, is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for global environment.

UNEP Latin America and the Caribbean Office (LACO), located in Panama City, serves 33 countries in the region in their efforts order to achieve sustainable development. UNEP also has sub-regional and national offices in Brazil, Jamaica, Mexico and Uruguay.

The regional office needs a consultant that can produce 35 infographics (both still and animated/musicalized), factsheets and videos for use in diverse formats, with relevant information of UNEP’s specific areas of subprogramme´s work, as well as global campaigns in the LAC region.

The consultant will do the necessary research/edition of information to create scripts for the different products; will share drafts and adjust them after revision of the Regional Communication Unit and prepare products in a variety of formats for wide dissemination. The work will be supervised by the Head of the Regional Communication Unit and the consultant will work home based.

Qualifications/special skills ACADEMIC: Bachelor´s Degree in graphic design, visual communication, multimedia, web design or related field is required.

PROFESSIONAL: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in graphic design or related field Is required.

LANGUAGE: Fluency in Spanish is required for this position.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Excellent computer skills (MS Office, e-mail, internet, dropbox, web editing) and experience in photo and video tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut, Adobe package, among other programmes) are required.
