A nationwide communication and advocacy campaign entitled *Literacy For a Brighter Future* was therefore developed to raise awareness at community levels on the importance of access to youth and adult literacy, especially for women and girls. Therefore, UNESCO is hiring a graphic designer to support the overall outreach and visibility efforts of its literacy programme. Under the overall authority of the Director of the UNESCO Office in Kabul and Representative of UNESCO to Afghanistan, the Head of Education Unit and direct supervision of the Non-formal Education (NFE) Project Manager, the graphic designer shall perform the functions indicated in the Terms of References below: Long Description ---------------- - Transform text-based communications materials into visual graphic design materials such as infographics, billboards, brochures, factsheets, posters, social media posts etc.; - Design promotional materials for literacy interventions; - Develop designs of teaching and learning materials, e.g the design of the YALBE level 2 (equivalent to grade 4-6 of general education) textbooks, namely the Literacy and Numeracy textbooks (Dari and Pashto versions), Learners Assessment Portfolio and Teacher Guide and pre-vocational skills modules; - Develop designs for UNESCO publications and donor reports; - Develop concept notes and storyboards for video and radio spots; - Liaise and follow-up with production companies on the production of video and radio spots; - Support the literacy team during events/field missions for photography and videography; - Produce quality videos and graphics for UNESCO’s social media page and webpage on a variety of education topics; - Ensure that all visibility materials are produced in line with UNESCO’s branding guidelines and donors’ requirements/policies; and - Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
