You have:
- A Bachelor's degree in fine arts or any other related areas is required.
- A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in publication production, including desktop publishing, graphic design, and layout, or related area is required.
- Working knowledge in Adobe Suite (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) and Microsoft Office is required.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is required; knowledge of French is desirable.
- Experience in drawing computer animation, infographic and printmaking design, books illustrations, art installation and photography or related area is desirable.

Result of Service
To render services as graphic design assistant in the Conference Management Section: • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts. • Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy and select style and size of type. • Use Adobe Creative cloud. • Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts to prepare layouts for printer. • Draw and print charts, graphs, illustrations, and other artwork, using computer. • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed. • Develop design ideas by researching and brainstorming with colleagues. • Prepare sketches, instructions, and layout diagrams. • Prepare story boards.

Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located within the Conference Management Section (CMS), Resource Management and Service Development Division (RMSDD) of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), The IC will report directly to the Assistant Document Management Officer under the overall guidance of Chief CMS. The IC is required to undertake the following tasks: • Design unique, creative, and consistent outputs. • Meet with client to identify needs and address as required. Identify substantive content, communication objective, media, and design options. • Develop concept and determine illustrative requirements. • Produce camera-ready documents for printing by incorporating changes as marked by author and editors, prepare artwork of approved designs for final review, color separation and printing (scan pictures, photo retouch images, redraw charts, maps, tables, figures, and logos). • Use time efficiently; consistently meet all deadlines. • Develop creative solutions, take ownership for all responsibilities and honor commitments. • Styles knowledge.
Qualifications/special skills
A Bachelor's degree in fine arts or any other related areas is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Working knowledge in Adobe Suite (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) and Mircosoft office is required. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
