Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.

UNEP’s Asia and the Pacific Office geographically serves 41 countries across the region to promote and implement sustainable development solutions. It assists countries of the region pursue sustainability, particularly in their implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development including technical expertise, facilitating access to finance, undertaking cutting-edge science-policy assessments, offering advisory services and strengthening laws, policies, management and governance. UNEP works with national and local authorities, civil society, other UN organizations, research institutions and the private sector to catalyze the efficient use of the region’s natural assets and reduce the degradation of the environment.

The Lower Mekong basin is a globally important ecoregion that encompasses a high diversity of forest habitats. These forests are home not only to diverse and rare wildlife but are also a source of essential products and services for many communities. To reduce the pressure on this valuable natural resource and to halt deforestation and forest degradation in the region, the Government of Norway is collaborating with the UN-REDD Programme to implement a new two-year regional initiative (2020-2022) that will support countries in the Lower Mekong region (Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam).

The Initiative will focus on working with key institutions in these countries, as well as in China, the primary importer of wood products from the region, to reduce forest crime by strengthening forest governance, and in particular, the effectiveness of systems designed to ensure legal and sustainable trade in timber.

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for producing communications products to support the implementation of activities of the Lower Mekong project and to enhance its overall visibility and outreach.

Under the overall supervision of the UN-REDD Communication Specialist, with technical guidance from Regional Technical Advisor and in close collaboration with FAO and other project partners, the Graphic Designer will assume the following duties and responsibilities:

1. Layout, design and production of marketing assets for the LMR workshop a. Production of 5 products including virtual flyers, invites, backgrounds for workshop b. Design and production of 5 interactive presentations (PowerPoint or Prezi) c. Editing of 5 video presentations (Zoom/Loom)

2. Layout, design and production of digital version, videos and social media assets for the LMR progress report a. Layout and proofing of an HTML and PDF versions of the LMR progress report b. Editing of at 3 1-minute short video clips for the LMR progress report c. Production of 6 infographics depicting the impact of the LMR project d. Design and production of 5 interactive presentations (PowerPoint or Prezi) e. Production of 6 social media cards with key messages of the campaign

3. Design and production of marketing and social media assets for UNREDD Asia Pacific activities a. Layout and proofing of an HTML version of the UNREDD Asia Pacific digital newsletter/flyer for 2022 b. The objective of this consultancy is to support UNEP in effectively communicating the scope of work and services for the Sustainable Forest Trade in the Lower Mekong Region project using powerful and effective visuals such as: - Provision of design, production and proofing for digital assets and reports - Production of event/activity-based communication and marketing products- social media cards, flyers, invites, infographics. - Provision of concept, editing and production of videos, interactive presentations and other multimedia products

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for developing innovative communications products to support the implementation of activities to address forest crime through improved governance and trade. Working closely with the UNREDD Communications Specialist, the Designer will produce digital assets including graphics, social media cards, presentations, videos, infographics, and other digital assets - from concept, script, storyboard to implementation. The Graphic Designer works to ensure that the content produced is of high quality, relevant, accessible and engaging. These products are essential for expanding the reach, visibility and footprint of the LMR project and UNREDD Asia Pacific activities among its target audiences and beyond

Qualifications/special skills Skills: - Strong practical background in graphic design, including in-depth knowledge of design software such as Adobe InDesign and Illustrator - Knowledge of photo editing tools (Photoshop) - Premium‐package and web design tools such as Bootstrap - Basic understanding of web development; - Good understanding of new digital technologies and online tools/platforms; - Strong editing skills, have a good eye for publication errors such as spelling mistakes and grammar - Knowledge of standard software packages (e.g. Microsoft Office); - Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and able to work closely with staff; - Innovative and creative.

Academic Qualifications: •Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or related field

Experience: - A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the area of communication, public information, and graphic design; - Relevant working experience within the UN system or other international organizations; - Experience on the use of Publishing and Creative software - Experience in production of communication materials in all stages – concept, design, draft, production and publishing - Work experience in an international organization is highly desirable.

Language: - Fluency in written and spoken English is required - Knowledge of Thai language is desirable.
