You have:

• Demonstrated experience in graphic design and visual communication.
• Strong portfolio showcasing layout design, educational/training materials, infographics and visual storytelling.
• Experience designing materials for facilitators, adolescents, youth or community engagement processes.
• Experience working with humanitarian, Child Protection, education or social service programmes is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with low-literacy and field-adapted communication approaches is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, PowerPoint or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to incorporate technical feedback and work within tight timelines.

In emergency contexts such as Cabo Delgado and other crisis-affected areas in Mozambique, Child Protection actors require practical, visually engaging and field-friendly materials that can support rapid capacity strengthening, community engagement and standardized service delivery. The Child Protection team is currently consolidating and redesigning a national Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) Training of Trainers (ToT) package, alongside complementary operational materials to support frontline responders, facilitators, social workers and community actors. Existing materials are often lengthy, text-heavy and not fully adapted to low-resource, low-literacy or emergency operational contexts. There is therefore a need to visually redesign and simplify training and facilitation materials to improve usability, comprehension, participation and consistency across implementation areas. The assignment will support the graphic design and visual adaptation of CPiE materials, including facilitator tools, practical field resources, case study pamphlets, visual exercises, participant materials and awareness products.

We are seeking one (or more) Online Volunteer(s) with strong graphic design and visual communication skills to support UNICEF Mozambique’s Child Protection team in developing accessible, engaging and field-adapted CPiE materials.

Working under the guidance of the Child Protection and Communications teams, the volunteer will:

• Review existing CPiE training materials, facilitator guides and operational tools to understand content, target audience and intended field use. • Support the visual redesign and layout of the national CPiE ToT package for Mozambique. • Develop visually engaging and easy-to-use materials tailored for emergency and low-resource settings. • Propose visual concepts, templates and formatting approaches aligned with UNICEF branding and adult-learning methodologies. • Create or redesign materials that may include:

o CPiE facilitator guides o Training presentations and participant handouts o Visual case study pamphlets and practical exercises o Group work templates and facilitation cards o Infographics and simplified process flows o Icons and illustrations to explain key Child Protection concepts o Awareness posters and community-facing materials o Quick-reference operational tools for frontline workers

• Ensure all materials are accessible, practical and adapted for field use, including printing in low-resource environments. • Incorporate feedback from technical teams and support revisions throughout the process. • Ensure final products comply with UNICEF corporate branding and communication standards. • Provide editable source files to allow future adaptation and contextualization.

Expected Deliverables

• A visually redesigned and formatted CPiE ToT package ready for field use and facilitation. • A set of designed complementary materials, including pamphlets, handouts, visual exercises and facilitation tools. • Editable source files (e.g. Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign or similar). • A simple visual guidance note on how to adapt and use the materials during trainings and emergency response activities.

The Online Volunteer will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with UNICEF Mozambique’s Child Protection team and contribute directly to strengthening Child Protection in Emergencies preparedness and response efforts through the creation of accessible, practical and impactful learning and operational materials.
