The assignment involves creating graphic designs for the UNDAC Handbook, a key resource used by the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team. UNDAC is part of the international emergency response system for sudden-onset emergencies. It provides experienced personnel and supports nations affected by disasters or emergencies by coordinating assessments, information management, and early response coordination. The designed graphics will help clarify complex information, making it accessible and useful for teams operating in challenging environments. This task requires a volunteer skilled in graphic design and proficient in Adobe Illustrator, with a portfolio to showcase their capabilities.

We are looking one Online Volunteer who, under the guidance of OCHA Design and Multimedia Unit and in close collaboration with the communications team, support us by producing various graphic designs for the UNDAC Handbook. In particular, the Online Volunteer is asked to: - Collect information on the handbook's background such as the target audience, design style, branding guidelines, etc.; - Create draft designs based on these requirements and discuss them with the focal point/communications team; - Develop 10 graphics according to agreed requirements.

The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteer in advance.

The Online Volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the Design and Multimedia Unit at OCHA and learn about the ways in which graphic design can support disaster response and coordination efforts.

Candidates should have professional experience in graphic design with previous experience in designing document layouts, and must have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
