This online volunteer assignment contributes directly to the efforts of WHO Mauritania and the Ministry of Health to strengthen the dissemination, accessibility and visibility of strategic public health documents in Mauritania. The specific document concerned is a major national strategic document of approximately 273 pages developed with technical support from WHO Mauritania and national stakeholders.
The document is part of broader national efforts to strengthen public health policies, multisectoral coordination and health system governance in Mauritania. Its effective dissemination and readability are therefore essential to facilitate ownership by government institutions, technical and financial partners, civil society and the wider public.
The selected Online Volunteer will support the final graphic editing and layout harmonization of the document in accordance with the Government of Mauritania’s corporate design and visual identity guidelines, which will be shared at the beginning of the assignment. The assignment includes improving the visual presentation, consistency, formatting, readability and overall professional appearance of the publication while preserving the technical content.
This contribution will support WHO Mauritania’s objective of improving communication and knowledge management products, ensuring that strategic health documents are visually accessible, user-friendly and aligned with national institutional standards. It will also contribute to enhancing the visibility and professionalism of national health strategies and facilitate their use for advocacy, policy dialogue and resource mobilization.
The Online Volunteer will work closely with WHO Mauritania colleagues involved in partnerships, communication and technical programmes. Through this collaboration, the volunteer will gain exposure to WHO’s work in public health, strategic communication and document production in an international and multicultural environment.
No specific prior knowledge of WHO Mauritania is required beyond understanding that the organization provides technical support to the Government of Mauritania in strengthening the health system, public health programmes and national health policies. Experience in graphic design, document layout and formatting software (such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or equivalent tools) will be particularly useful for this assignment.
We are looking for one Online Volunteer to edit the design and layout of an existing 273-page document.
The design and formatting should align with the Government of Mauritania’s corporate design and visual identity guidelines, which will be shared with the selected Online Volunteer at the beginning of the assignment.
The Online Volunteer will support the improvement of the document’s visual presentation, readability and overall consistency, contributing to a more professional and accessible publication for national authorities, partners and stakeholders.
Through this assignment, the Online Volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the team at WHO Mauritania and gain insight into how graphic design and visual communication can support the dissemination, understanding and visibility of strategic public health documents and initiatives.
Candidates should have professional experience in graphic design with previous experience in designing document layouts, and must have in-depth knowledge of graphic design applications, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
