The INFF aims to address structural challenges within the financing ecosystem including enhanced quality and scale of financing for the MIP-1 and the SDGs. The INFF is underpinned by four key strategic phases which are: 1) Diagnostics and Assessment; 2) Development of Financing Strategy; 3) Establishing and strengthening the monitoring and review system of the development financing landscape; and 4) Establishing and fully operationalizing effective governance and coordination structure.

Digital finance and payment solutions have become more prominent, necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to foster financing for sustainable development. This has prompted regulators to advance policy changes to advance the development of Malawi’s digital economy with key emphasis on digitization of payment systems in Malawi.
