  • Familiarity with UN branding and messaging is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
  • Fluency in English required; Chichewa is an added advantage.

In 2025, the United Nations marks 80 years of global service, commemorated annually on 24 October as UN Day. This milestone offers a moment to reflect on the UN’s achievements, challenges, and continued relevance in addressing global and national priorities. It follows the 2024 Summit of the Future, where Member States endorsed the Pact for the Future, the Declaration on Future Generations, and the Global Digital Compact which reaffirms multilateralism as key to tackling climate change, conflict, pandemics, and technological disruption. In Malawi, the UN@80 anniversary aligns with the launch of the UNSDCF 2024–2028, supporting Malawi 2063 and the SDGs amid both progress and persistent development challenges. Two major events will mark this occasion: the Strategic Dialogue on Malawi–UN Partnership on 20 November and the SDG Youth Festival on 27 November 2025 in Lilongwe.

The specific tasks include:

UNRCO is seeking the support of four (4) Online Volunteers - with expertise in graphic design/art to support the UNRCO creating its communication materials, specifically for the upcoming UN Day commemorative events in Malawi. The graphics will include those for the pre-event, during the event day and post-event with some actionable insights. The Online Volunteers are expected to work under the supervision of communications focal point from UNRCO by carrying out the following tasks: - Create content following the suggestions and design recommendations of team members - Make meaningful design suggestions that improve the overall product (e.g. poster or infographic) - Create clean-cut and original designs for the organization on the website, blog, and social media - The number of graphic designs will be determined by supervisor. At the end of the assignment, a certificate of appreciation will be issued from UNV.

Expected Outcome: • Visually pleasing infographics to help spread awareness about the dialogue session • Teamwork and collaboration with the social media management online volunteers
