You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, commerce finance option or any other relevant field.
  • CPA or ACCA certification desired.
  • 4-5 years of experience in Finance and/or Grants Management or accounting.
  • 1-2 years’ experience managing or working with partners in financial reporting.
  • Proficient with SharePoint Online, MS Teams, knowledge of Box repository system.
  • Should be Computer Literate, Work Well with MS Word, MS Excel and Sun systems.
  • Familiar with Database packages.
  • Good communication and training skills.
  • Knowledge of various donor requirements (EU, BHA, Irish Aid, GAC, etc.).
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Zoom usage for trainings.

Grant Accountant

The Role:

The role holder will be required to promote grants financial stewardship, accountability, reliability and accuracy of financial reports as well as implement financial policies. She/he will also be required to safeguard assets and ensures compliance to donor regulations, support non-finance staff/project teams in understanding and interpreting of financial templates, financial reports and any other donor compliance matters.

This role will ensure effective projects budgets management, accurate and timely financial reports for the regional based projects and support for the external and internal audits of the assigned Projects/Grants.

This position will ensure that the partners have their capacity assessed before being engaged, continuous identification of capacity building needs and planning capacity building sessions in liaison with Partners technical specialist. Carry out close monitoring of Sub-recipients to ensure activities are implemented within budget and on target.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree Accounting, commerce finance option or in any other relevant field.
  • Professional technical skill desired: CPA or ACCA
  • Should be Computer Literate, Work Well with MS Word, MS Excel and Sun systems.
  • Familiar with Database packages.
  • 4-5 years of experience in Finance and or Grants Management or accounting
  • Proficient with SharePoint Online, MS Teams, knowledge of Box repository system
  • 1-2 years’ Experience managing or working with partners in financial reporting
  • Good communication and training skills
  • TOT G2G, Gateway to Canadian Grants.
  • Knowledge of programs and grants management
  • Knowledge of various donor requirements EU, BHA, Irish Aid, GAC, GFFO/GOG /ADH, WFP, UNICEF, SIDA, GFTB, SHF
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Zoom usage for trainings

Working Environment:

The position will be based in Somalia.
