An exciting opportunity to head up the Global Roving Emergency Education Specialist for a leading international NGO working as a Global roving person.

What we are looking for

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking a highly qualified, resilient and dynamic Global Roving Emergency Education Specialist position is, the role will perform the functions but not limited, to:

Support country office start-up

Support first phase education response in existing country offices

Gap filling, AND

Providing in-country support with the design, reaching results and capacity development components of education programming

The postholder may also fill the role of Education Programme Development Manager at country office level.

The purpose of the Education Specialist position is technical development of Education, strategic direction and quality assurance, develop Education strategy and quality control at country level. This includes mentoring, training and capacity building of staff on Education technical capacity.

What you will do

  • Develop education strategy, technical guidance and Macro logframes that are aligned with NRC’s Global Education Strategy and regional strategies and priorities

  • Compliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures

  • Contribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposal, budgets and donor reports

  • Identify trends, technical standards and donor priorities

  • Follow up on compliance with contractual commitments within education, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementation

  • Provide technical direction and project implementation support

What you will bring

  • Minimum 4 years of experience within education in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Education expertise
  • Experience in drafting and encouraging implementation of policy/strategic guidance, and developing practical tools and resources
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Language: Proficient in English and French. Spanish would be an asset.

  • Contract: 2 years
  • Travel: 75%
  • Salary/benefits: grade 9 on NRC’s Head Office salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
