Global Rewards Specialist Adviser

Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) supports refugees and internally displaced people worldwide, currently with a presence in some 35 countries ranging from Colombia in the west to Myanmar in the far east. Our trusted employees make a difference to these people every day.

NRC’s Global HR Team is responsible for providing a range of HR strategic development and operational support to NRC for application across NRC’s activities internationally, regionally and in country operations. The Global Rewards Specialist Adviser will provide both strategic and operational support to NRC’s HR Operations Unit. The role will support the Global HR Director and Head of HR Operations by providing expertise, advice and guidance on the global reward strategy and direction.

The location of this role is flexible, and you may work from our Head office in Oslo, Norway as well as other existing NRC locations, subject to any legal or regulatory requirements.

What will you do?

  • Drive the strategic development on NRC’s Global Reward systems
  • Be our technical expert on compensations and benefits throughout our global organisation
  • Support NRC Senior Management in their decision making through business cases and briefing documents
  • Advise and support on the implementation of NRC’s systems, tools and procedures on compensation and benefits e.g., pay scale development and review, determining allowances and other benefits, etc
  • Develop Pay scales in collaboration with Regional/Country Offices and provide support, advice, and guidance to NRC Offices on aspects of Compensation and Benefits that are locally determined. Facilitate the approval process
  • Share your knowledge within Comp & Ben with senior HR managers through formal and informal training
  • Develop and maintain central information resources on Compensation and Benefits related documents, including all benchmarking data and national pay scales
  • Support the development of compliance mechanisms to ensure adherence to NRC HR policies, handbooks, guidelines and procedures and the national labour law, in support to NRC offices
  • Strategic development of global pension and insurance based on NRC’s business requirements and legal changes.
  • Leading projects in regard to pension and insurance for international staff and staff on Employer of Record contracts. Providing technical guidance and support to the global HR Team on topics in this area
  • Support our regional offices on proposals from NRC Offices on exceptions or deviations from NRC reward policies, facilitating the necessary approval and documentation processes
  • Support our Global recruitment Centre and Head office HR in obtaining Compensation and Benefits information needed for the Employer of record and Hosting contracts
  • Cooperate with our HR Management System team on improving our HRMS on comp & Ben
  • Take part in the HR Operations units’ continuous learning.

What will you bring to the table?

  • A Master’s degree within fields like HR, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or Statistics.
  • Senior level experience in compensation and benefits e.g. benchmarking, salary structures, job structures including job evaluation.
  • Proven experience in leading and developing areas of global compensation and benefits or in reward related project management.
  • Tech savvy, particularly in Excel and databases.
  • A mature influencer able to collaborate well with key stakeholders at all levels within our organisation
  • Good level of numeracy and confident to provide basic statistical analysis.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Other languages such as French or Spanish, would be an advantage.

  • Strong collaborative working skills and ability to build relationships with colleagues at all levels

Additional Information:

Duty station: Any location where NRC has a presence, and a hosting arrangement is possible.

Travel: Up to 30%

Duration and type of contract: Permanent employment

Salary: Based upon NRC grading scale.
