The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Global Health, Safety & Security Trainer (GHSST) to be a part of an international team of trainers who will train Humanitarian Aid workers for deployment to the world’s most challenging places. The NRC is present in around 40 countries.

This position involves 50% travel.

What you will do

Some of your specific responsibilities include:

• Deliver training as an instructor.
• Support the implementation of the Global HSS training strategy.
• To operationally manage components of the NRC training such as First Aid, HEIST, and HEAT and its consultants on delivery.
• Maintain and develop the high quality of this training.
• Responsible for admin and logistics in training delivery.
• To support the development and implementation of the NRC crisis management training program.
• Development and delivery of new training initiated by the Head of Global HSS Training.
• Works in a team with NRC HSS Trainers and staff.

What you will bring

• Exemplary command of the English language (written and spoken).
• Strong report writing and excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Minimum 5 years of experience from the chosen field of profession listed below. Experience from an NGO / INGO would be considered an asset.
• Certified nurse, Paramedic, or combat medic. Or qualified, proficient, and experienced with the development and delivery of ‘online’ and virtual training. Or considerable experience and qualifications in small unit defensive and ground operations Or EOD/IEDD in high and extreme risk.
• Bachelor’s degree level of education and/or 5 years relevant work experience in lieu.
• Documented and substantial experience from work in ‘high-risk’ environments.
• Solid understanding of principles and practices in broad humanitarian action, NGO safety and risk management, humanitarian access, and civil-military coordination to include high and extreme risk.
• Substantial and demonstrated prior experience as a trainer, with an effective and professional training style, and the ability to develop, implement, facilitate, and impart learning to senior management and to a wide range of audiences.
• Leadership and Team Spirit.
• Demonstrated experience in incident and crisis management.
• Proficiency in one additional language, either French, Spanish, or Arabic.
• Professional qualifications or studies in general management, security/risk management, and adult learning.
• Professional certificates as an instructor in first aid, advanced driving, and other relevant subjects.
• Prior work experience at a regional or global level.
• Arabic, French, or Spanish language skills.
• Experience or qualifications in humanitarian access or negotiation.
