- At least intermediate level in MS Outlook, MS Word, Autocad, MS PowerPoint and other Computer-Aided Facilities Management software
- Spoken and written English essential
- Second UN language would be an asset, particularly Arabic, French, or Spanish

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Present in nearly 80 countries, the organization has the global footprint, deep field presence and local knowledge and relationships necessary to provide access to nutritious food and contribute to lasting solutions, especially in many of the world’s most remote and fragile areas.
Our WFP Facilities team, situated in the Facilities Management Unit of the Management Services division, based in Rome, Italy is currently seeking a Global Facilities Officer.
This team supports WFP colleagues globally for the provision of guidance, oversight and support for the management of building facilities, including common premises.
This position is available for a period of 11 months, starting asap.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implementation of relevant strategies specifically related to Real Estate to guide field offices on the business processes related to the establishment of office premises, including shared premises (Common Premises);
- Provide technical advice and support in Country Offices (COs) on the implementation of WFP policies, standards, norms and practices to ensure that outputs meet the established quality standards and are compliant with wider WFP guidelines and operations;
- Promote Common Premises culture, in line with the UN Secretary-General's plan for UN Reform, and ensure proper support for COs to engage effectively;
- Provide strategic input for real estate decisions in the field, including office expansions, downsizing, consolidations and acquisitions;
- Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive delivery of services (i.e. Engineering, IT, HR, Legal, Procurement, Insurance, etc.);
- Contribute to the application of environmental sustainability practices in Facilities Management throughout WFP (including Energy Efficiency and collaboration with Environmental Sustainability and OSH);
- Lead Country Offices through the review and/or preparation of Business Case and cost-benefits analysis, where applicable;
- Provide comprehensive space management services (efficiencies, furniture, technical design, cost estimates, etc.) in consultation with the requesting field offices, ensuring WFP premises are in line with best practices and cost-effective;
- Prepare periodic reports on the WFP Real Estate portfolio;
- Updating leasing and real estate data, essential to overall reporting of the Real Estate Portfolio;
- Ensure availability for short/long term missions to field locations when required.
- Other tasks assigned as appropriate by the supervisor related to the unit’s ongoing work.

Education:
Advanced degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Civil Engineer or related discipline
Knowledge & Skills:

- Prior experience in managing real estate facilities in diverse locations is highly desirable.

- At least an intermediate level in MS Outlook, MS Word, Autocad, MS PowerPoint, and other Computer-Aided Facilities Management software.
Languages:
