Duties and Responsibilities

Background: The project is to promote the integration of social, economic, and environmental data and to fill in data gaps for the monitoring of sustainable development goals in the Arab region. The focus is on enhancing geospatial and geo-statistical data acquisition, dissemination and on showcasing user-centric analytics for capacity integration and policy insights. Duties and Responsibilities: The individual contractor will perform the following tasks: • Contribute to collating geospatial and geo-statistical databases. • Locate, identify and extract regional, national, and subnational data. • Develop efficient data collection, analysis, and dissemination methods. • Document the quality, accuracy, and consistency of data. • Help in the development of socioeconomic and environmental indicators. • Produce dashboards, charts, maps, StoryMaps and infographics. • Conduct cross referencing and validation of open-source data. • Utilize ArcGIS Pro and QGIS to conduct advanced raster and vector analysis, ensuring accurate geospatial data interpretation. • Support the development and automation of GIS workflows using Model Builder, Python scripting, and geospatial Python libraries to improve efficiency in spatial data processing. • Support spatial data transformation and integration, managing large geospatial datasets from multiple sources with tools like Feature Manipulation Engine (FME). • Conduct overlay analysis, buffer applications, and network analysis to support decision-making in risk identification and spatial planning. • Support the analysis of elevation data and process LiDAR point clouds for terrain modeling, slope generation, and 3D modeling in urban planning and environmental projects. • Support the utilization of remote sensing techniques for satellite imagery analysis, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index calculations, and deep learning applications in image processing. • Implement open-source web mapping and visualization technologies to create interactive and informative spatial representations (example: OpenLayers, GeoServer). • Manage spatial databases and big data processing tools, ensuring efficient cloud-based spatial data processing and predictive spatial modeling. • Integrate GIS with statistical software to conduct multi-temporal change detection, advanced classification, and geospatial predictive modeling. • Maintain version control systems and ensure adherence to data privacy and geospatial security protocols, fostering reproducible and expandable geo-product design practices.
