The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster.

The External Relations (ER) department was crafted in early 2020 and is comprised of three complementary functional areas: Private Fundraising, Communications and Advocacy.

Supporting this endeavor in ER, is the Global Partnerships and Philanthropic Services (GPPS) Unit. GPPS consists of functional specialists across a variety of high-value fundraising support functions providing all elements of cultivation, support, and stewardship to high-value donors, partners, and supporters.

The candidate has an outstanding opportunity to join GPPS’s Partner Engagement and Corporate Affairs (PECA) team and advance our aspirational high value (HV) goals and vision. PECA engages our high value audiences across the three HV income streams (Corporate, Foundations and Trusts, and High Net Worth Individuals) through a number of support services including operational partnerships, gift in-kind policy and practice; global workplace giving; donor engagement and cause marketing.

Job Overview/Summary: -------------------------

This is a new position, which partners with HV fundraising teams and IRC internal business units to promote, develop and support non-financial opportunities which will expand partnerships with the private sector beyond financial giving. The right candidate will feel at ease managing partnerships that primarily provide non-financial GIK contributions to the IRC. They will also potentially handle, in coordination with HV teams, the GIK components of a small portfolio of significant and highly strategic partnerships. Finally, the Officer will be comfortable prospecting and soliciting new private sector GIK partners who can provide GIK to meet strategic, high priority needs for the IRC.

This critical role will collaborate with program colleagues globally on the coordination and mapping of strategic in-kind giving opportunities from across the organization including goods and services to directly benefit IRC’s clients. The position will collaborate across IRC teams including Research & Innovation, IT, Global Supply Chain, Finance, Operations & Analytics, US and international program teams, and External Relations.

Major Responsibilities: ---------------------------

- Partnership Management: Serve as the account manager for a portfolio of non-financial partnerships from the point of solicitation through to gift acknowledgment and reporting. This includes leading account management activities including but not limited to donor stewardship, due diligence, pre-award gift agreement with external partners and internal colleagues through to signature, and all aspects of Salesforce data management, communications and tracking of GIK donations. - Co-manage partnerships that have both financial and/or non-financial components and collaborate on proposals and outreach for opportunities with both financial and non-financial potential. - Collaborate internally across the IRC to develop clear and compelling donor-friendly one-pagers, concept notes, proposals, reports and other tools and materials to share with donors to solicit GIK. - New Partner Prospecting: Partner with the GPPS Prospect Research team to identify prospective partners to serve our clients' needs. Coordinate with HV colleagues on solicitations for partnerships with existing relationship managers and ensure clear roles & responsibilities across teams. Directly solicit identified prospects for identified GIK needs and lead those partnerships. - Collaborate with colleagues on the end-to-end coordination of non-financial GIK opportunities: Liaise and, where appropriate, partner with GIK colleagues and/or the GPPS Program Services team to coordinate the end-to-end logistics of in-kind donations from your portfolio. This could include: confirming whether an offer of an in-kind donation is needed by the organization; collecting specs and requirements from internal programs, operations and technical teams; reviewing grant agreements and crafting GIK proposals; working to ensure the smooth delivery of donated goods from point A to point B; and working throughout the donation lifecycle to understand any donor reporting requirements and ensuring ongoing compliance with the receiving IRC unit. The Officer may lead these same activities for partnerships that are co-managed with other HV teams. - Collaborate with the GIK team on new policy and process development: Leverage partnership and GIK expertise to provide support, collaboration, and input on new GIK policy development and process design in parallel with GIK team colleagues, internal operations and technical teams. - Strategy: Together with Operational Partnerships and GIK team leadership, contribute to annual strategy for GIK with a focus achieving private sector engagement and revenue goals; support the creation of guidelines and financial tiers for GIK partnership; and help develop metrics and strategies to evaluate impact & value of GIK. Manage portfolios in line with GIK and broader IRC engagement strategies. - Closely collaborate with internal colleagues across departments to proactively ensure GIK policies, expectations, and information flows between prospects/donors are clear and aligned, while developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with colleagues and IRC program and support staff globally. - Undertake special assignments, as needed.

Job Requirements: ---------------------

- Proven track record in private sector fundraising including relationship management and frontline communication with corporations and foundations, as well as the management of gifts including GIK - Experience with business development and exploring new ways of collaborating with partners and prospects - Ability to both serve as an account manager, directly collaborating with a high value donor to maintain and increase their giving, as well as to prospect and solicit new high value donors for identified strategic GIK opportunities - Dedication to supporting IRC DEI efforts through the development of multi-faceted partnerships that benefit a wide range of clients with varying backgrounds - Knowledge of or eagerness to learn in-kind accounting standards, as well as standards for in-kind giving in global humanitarian and development contexts - Experience or curiosity about working with finance and supply chain operations in international humanitarian settings - Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, and experience collaborating across with multiple individuals and teams. - Problem solver who can comfortably navigate unchartered territory with unexpected challenges - Strong skills in time management; good at multitasking; organized - Ability to be both meticulous and strategic - Experience with deal terms and handling contracts - Experience working with Salesforce or another CRM and related technologies within a fundraising environment - Knowledge of humanitarian action and international development

Working Environment: This full-time role requires working remotely full or part time (i.e., telecommuting some or all working days). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.
