You have:
- Masters’ Degree in Geography Information System or Geomatic and Geospatial Engineering or Geospatial Data Science or related discipline with 5 years’ post-qualification experience in land surveying and GIS – Based planning and designing.
- Bachelors’ Degree in Geography Information System or Geomatic and Geospatial Engineering or Geospatial Data Science or related discipline with 8 years’ post-qualification experience in land surveying and GIS – Based planning and designing.
- Fluency in English.
- Strong GIS / mWater application and output Monitoring survey.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong supervisory abilities and demonstrated capacity of teamwork and of coordination with relevant actors.

Purpose of the position:
The position will lead and establish a GIS and mWater system for World Vision Lesotho, build staff capacity in collecting GIS and mWater data as well as building and updating the Organizations’ geodatabases. The Officer publishes Programmes’ and Projects’ areas atlases that present comprehensive view of natural conditions and socio-economic activities as well as implement WVIL Web/Internet based GIS/mWater for access by all the stakeholders and donors. Mapping of the WASH universal coverage areas.
Major Responsibilities
1. GIS /mWater Development and Compliance 40%
- Develop/rollout GIS system and databases for all World Vision Lesotho WASH Programs
- Coordinate GIS/mWater efforts from the National office, Regional and the Program areas
- Participate in development of monitoring tools and incorporate spatial analysis into the methodologies so that change can be visualized spatially
- Develop specifications for additional GIS/ and GPS related hardware and software
- Produce maps and data for Programs and Projects especially for the WASH universal coverage program areas. This includes mapping of all water and sanitation points/infrastructure
- Ensure that GIS business processes, standards and policies developed in coordination with other WVIL entities are effectively and consistently used by operations staff.
2. GIS Data Collection, Analysis, Management and Reporting 25%
- Field visits to monitor GIS operationalization in programs/projects and collect data
- Conduct research to locate and obtain existing databases.
- nalyze spatial data for geographic statistics to incorporate into documents and reports.
- Compile geographic data from a variety of sources including customer surveys, field Observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
- Prepares, updates, and distributes GIS maps and new information within the organization
- Prepare and provide GIS reports which are evidence-based, based on the data collected from the project areas and share with the programs and staff for sharing with the stakeholders in a simple map depicting change/impact
- Maintain inventory of system maps as related to GIS (converts from CAD when necessary)
3. Capacity Building 15%
- Keep current with new GIS and GPS information and technology (updates the systems)
- Prepare training materials and make presentations to WVIL Staff and partners
- Guide GIS system users in creating requirements for GIS Software
- Writes documentation to support software
4. Advocacy, Engagement and Networking 15%
- Ensure high quality presentation of GIS/m Water products to WVM staff, donors,NGOs, Government and other stakeholders.
- Linkages with partners (NGOs, Districts and National government, church, bilateral andmultilateral agencies) in resources mapping for development interventions;Maintain a good working relationship with the Ministry of Natural Resources (DRWS) Information System taskforce.
5.Grants AcquisitionSupport fundraising teams during proposal development upon their request in relation to GIS initiatives 5%
Qualifications and Experience
Masters’ Degree in Geography Information System or Geomatic and Geospatial Engineering or Geospatial Data Science or related discipline with 5 years’ post -qualification experience in land surveying and GIS – Based planning and designing.

• Bachelors’ Degree in Geography Information System or Geomatic and Geospatial Engineering or Geospatial Data Science or related discipline with 8 years’ post -qualification experience in land surveying and GIS – Based planning and designing.
Additional technical practical skills in GIS and mWater mapping is added advantage.

Working Environment / Conditions:
Domestic Travel: 70% travel to Area Program and project areas is required.
On call: 5% In emergency situations, the position will be required to be on-call.
