Result of Service

Updated Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials that provide the most up-to-date peacekeeping essential knowledge required by all peacekeeping personnel - military, police and civilians - to function effectively in UN peacekeeping operations. ITS and Member State national trainers possess the ability to independently conduct training of trainer's courses on the new updated CPTM.

Duties and Responsibilities

The individual contractor assignment will be home-based/remote. The individual contractor will be working with the Training Policy and Standards Team of the Integrated Training Service (ITS), Division of Policy, Evaluation and Training, Department of Peace Operations. The individual contractor is under the overall supervision of the Team Leader of the Training Policy and Standards Team (TPST) of ITS.

1 - Conduct an initial proof-reading of all CPTM lessons: highlight and address format errors, apply proof-reading inputs from the project team. 2 - Review learning evaluation questions and test-run of learning activities to ensure instructions for trainers are clear. 3 - Build reference and resources into all CPTM lessons. 4 - Confirm that UN standards have been applied to the updated CPTM package, carry out minor adjustments within the defined scope and provide working files for final formatting. 5 - Check if links are working through the entire CPTM package - highlight errors to project team for corrections. 6 - Deliver final drafts of CPTM lessons (and any new lessons identified by committee groups) to ITS for approval.

Qualifications/special skills

HS diploma and higher education certificate in sociology, political science, international relations, law, or other relevant area is required.

The selected candidate is to have minimum 10 years of experience in editing, proof-reading, formatting and styles and layouts.

The selected candidate must have a proven track record of supporting training events and facilitation skills both in in-person and remote support is required, and strong editing skills.

Strong writing skills; excellent organizational skills; and excellent analytical and presentation skills in English is required.

Experience with each of the pillars, including development, humanitarian, and peace and security is required.
