Oversee agricultural research programs focused on sustainable water management.

You have:

  • Experience in managing agricultural research programs focusing on sustainable intensification methods.
  • Expertise in water management practices for agriculture.
  • Ability to oversee program implementation and monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of fiscal management principles.
  • Experience with monitoring and evaluation techniques in international settings.

The General Development Officer will undertake the following duties and responsibilities. The incumbent will monitoragricultural research programs led by U.S. universities (Feed the Future Innovation Labs), private partners, international agricultural researchcenters (IARCs) and national agricultural research systems (NARS) focused on development and deployment of sustainable intensification methods,in particular around soil water management and usage. The incumbent also will consider irrigation and mechanization, scaling of innovation,aquaculture/fisheries, and increasing availability of and access to safe and nutritious foods. The incumbent will oversee all aspects of programimplementation, including research design, activity planning, fiscal management, environmental compliance, monitoring and evaluation (M&E),reporting against standard Feed the Future indicators, and research progress against stated program objectives. The incumbent will serve as atechnical authority concerning international agriculture research programs that relate to agricultural water management and accompanied bestpractices and methodologies. The incumbent will play a thoughtful leadership role by bringing technical expertise and experience to the REFSapproach to Sustainable Intensification and enhanced agricultural production. The incumbent will monitor progress and advances in internationalagricultural research conducted by U.S. universities, IARCs, the private sector, and developing country NARS and universities. The incumbent willsupport improved coordination and outreach between REFS and USAID Missions having agriculture and food security programs. The incumbent will also perform other duties as assigned.
