Gender Specialist

Description of task
Under the direct supervision of Deputy Representative the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
·Support key programmatic or policy areas on advocacy, reporting and communication.
·Engage with UN Agencies, government partners and CSOs and play a key role in the development of new project concept note and other document required by the working groups.
·Support the development of work plans and monitoring of implementation of key initiatives
·Assist in UN Coordination & especially SDGs engagement of UN Women
·Assist in UN Women’s support to a variety of processes designed to establish, localize and monitor implementation of Sustainable Development Goals Agenda
·Support country office results-based monitoring and reporting processes.
·Collaborate closely with Project Managers and communications team to support development and implementation of a communications strategy that will scale Country Office advocacy.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Master degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
Areas of education / specialization: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of international development work, gender equality, human rights, or other relevant area.
Required experience:
36 Months
Experience remark:
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in gender equality and the empowerment of women.
- Experience and/or interest in working with gender equality institutions and civil society organizations.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
- Practical experience (paid or voluntary) with gender equality for women rights issues.
- Practical experience (paid or voluntary) in project implementation, reporting and coordination of multiple stakeholders and communication.
- Practical experience in working with civil society organizations. Good teamwork and preferably experience in managing a small project.
Experience writing or producing communications in English. Knowledge and experience in volunteering, and willingness to learn about volunteering

Pre-departure training organized by the Government of Finland
The selected candidate will be invited to attend a training on Finland’s development policy and cooperation prior to deployment from 1 to 3 September 2021.
