Contract

This is a UNV International Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Youth contracts.

During the last years, the Bolivian State has become a country of emigration and immigration. Indeed, the percentage of migrants that have chosen Bolivia as their destination country has increased, with foreigners from Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, among other nationalities. There are approximately 11.479 migrants from Venezuela living in Bolivia and 7.461 migrants that transit by Bolivia. As regards internal migrations, Bolivia is going through a process of desreguralization through which thousands of peasants leave the countryside in a migration directed mainly towards the cities, where there are better job opportunities. This phenomenon of internal migration coexists with that of emigration. Some segments of the population, mainly urban and with certain socioeconomic characteristics, choose to leave the country. In this context, the main areas of action of OIM in Bolivia are: • Assistance to people in emergency situations • Labor Migration • Integration of Migrants • Migration and Development • Voluntary Return and Reintegration • Public policies and research • Migration and climate change • Fight against human trafficking and smuggling migrants Unfortunately, in many cases migration places migrants in various forms of violation of their rights, including human trafficking, lack of access to health, education, among others. This situation affects men and women differently, and it is important to approach them from a gender and equity approach.

Under the direct supervision of Head of the IOM Office in Bolivia, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: - Ensure the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women, in all of Programs and Projects of OIM Bolivia, through the review of indicators - Support the design of Gender Equality strategies to enhance gender equality and women’s empowerment linked with the thematic of migration . - Support identification of gender issues relevant to migration in Bolivia. - Contribute to mainstream gender into national and regional migration processes, policies and legislative frameworks. - Carry out any other task related to the gender equity and women´s empowerment as requested by the Head of the IOM Office in Bolivia.
