This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Strategic Planner of the Office of the Resident Coordinator and in close collaboration with the Partnerships Adviser, the Specialist will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support the gender equality dimension of the work of the interagency results group 1 (an economy that innovates, generates employment and guarantees sustainable development) under the UNSDCF 2021-2025. As part of that, s/he will:

    • Monitor the implementation of the gender equality objectives in the group’s biannual work plan and report on progress and results.
    • Identify partnerships and global knowledge production that can contribute to the work of the group.
    • Share innovative practices and international experiences that could be adopted in Uruguay.
  • Support the work of the local network of the UN Global Compact in all matters related to the gender equality agenda. As part of that, s/he will:

    • Curate information on gender equality global events, tools and best practices to make them accessible to the Uruguayan business community and provide a global window to the work done in Uruguay.
    • Support the establishment of a local network of companies committed to gender equality and design mechanisms to recognize and reward their advances.
    • Support the design of communication campaigns, through messaging and data visualization.
    • Mobilize local young entrepreneurs and influencers in support of gender equality in the economic sector.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

International Development; Business Administration; Gender Studies, Human Rights, Data and innovation, Business administration (any of these).

Required experience:

36 Months

Experience remark:

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated gender advocate interested in advancing the gender equality agenda in the UN private sector partnerships in Uruguay.

  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience at the national or international level in coordination, lead, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development programmes and projects.

  • Experience working with gender equality, preferably related to economic empowerment of women.

  • Experience working in private sector companies` environment and corporate management practices and policies, as well as knowledge of the entrepreneurship and impact investment ecosystem.

  • Excellent communication and networking skills.

Language skills:

  • Spanish(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge

Pre-departure training organized by the Government of Finland

The selected candidate will be invited to attend a training on Finland’s development policy and cooperation prior to deployment from 1 to 3 September 2021.
