UNICEF Pakistan grounded in the vision of equality and with the fundamental mission of promotion of the rights of every child has been providing technical assistance to the Government of Pakistan to accelerate progress for children, working to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and help children realize their rights under the Convention on the Rights of Children. UNICEF Pakistan is looking for a UNV to assist the Chief Gender & Development for supporting the Ministry of Planning Development and Special Initiatives (MoPDSI) and Planning Commission on the Gender Road Map, assist in the conceptualization and operationalization of activities focused on adolescent girls, and facilitate donor coordination including development of concept notes to support in fund mobilization for achieving gender specific results.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of Chief Gender & Development or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UNV Gender and Development Officer will:

• The dedicated UNV hired under this ToRs shall support the coordination with the federal and provincial government counterparts for the implementation of the Gender Policy Framework and Gender Road Map. • The UNV will be responsible to provide technical support to coordinate with the provincial partners including government line departments, private partners and CSOs. • Working under the supervision of Chief Gender and Development, the UNV will collect and capture data on gender and generate specific analytics. • The UNV will coordinate with government counterparts, cross sectoral teams in UNICEF, sector partners, and develop gender responsive and transformative proposals. • Monitoring of progress, donor updates and report periodically to the presentations for UNCT, GTG, and other forums as required. • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

• A University degree in gender, international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law or other social science field is required • At least 5 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in gender or other relevant programmes; experience with proposal writing is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization; • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; • Desirable: valid national driver’s license and proven ability to drive manual gear 4x4 over rough terrain; (if not applicable, delete) • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UNV assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials.

UNV Field Unit will help you open a Pak rupee bank account with Standard Chartered Bank or any other local bank at your duty station.

Assignment remarks: This is a national UNV assignment and a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of PKR 88,483 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
