DRC has been responding to various humanitarian crises in Lebanon since 2004, working with Palestinian, Iraqi and Syrian refugees. DRC received registration from the Ministry of Interior in 2011, and since then has focused primarily on responding to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and the resulting impact on Lebanese host community. DRC Lebanon’s focus is to ensure that we are able to respond to critical emerging humanitarian needs whilst improve the living conditions of displacement-affected populations and contribute to the achievement of durable solutions. With an annual portfolio of $12million, and with approximately 200+ staff, DRC is focusing its response in protection and economic recovery (Ec-Rec) sector in Bekka, North Lebanon and Beirut. DRC is also contributing to the evidence base and coordination structures in country through our Evidence Generation and referral information management (RIMs) teams

About the job

Contribute to the overall quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of protection activities implemented by DRC by supporting capacity-building of teams, strengthening Protection Information Management systems and timely and accurate reporting of protection activities. Develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DRC’s sector activities.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure that all spaces where activities are implemented meet interagency standards for safe spaces whether mobile or static, and feed into the drafting of the relevant MoUs
  • Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program

Support Protection Teams in planning and implementation of events or celebrations within communities and ensure that informed consent is given at events where communication material is being collected (images, quotes etc.).

  • Supervise the daily work of protection assistants outside of case management and ensure the quality provision of protection services in compliance with best-practice and DRC’s guidelines
  • Support the Team Leader with capacity building of DRC staff, partner staff, and animators/facilitators/ daily workers if applicable, including the development of capacity-building plans, training materials and delivery of trainings outside of case management.
  • Ensure staff have access to needed trainng, on the-job coaching, shadowing, and sufficiently trained and supported to understand the expected outcome of project and activities.and principles of data confidentiality, collections, commnictaion, reporting and entry on DRC’s database
  • Conduct field visit and spot checks of relevant protection activities not related to case management.
  • In coordination with the Protection Team Leader, support and co-lead changes and improvements to setting up a Protection Information Management Monitoring and maintenance of relevant databases; including support with referral management
  • Through the information gathered from the Protection databases, program trackers, master lists and protection reports, support the Protection Manager and IMO with data analysis; identification of trends and gaps, and; evidence-based reporting;
  • Support the Protection Team Leader in receiving and responding to referrals (internal and external) in a timely manner whilst prioritizing cases according to risk level and provide feedback on referral status to referring parties;
  • Support the Protection Team in the maintenance of an up-to-date service mapping of the service providers operating in the area and ensure that tem members are informed about the available services and feed into the updated service mapping;
  • Support Protection Team Leader in producing monthly reports and support the team leader in submitting internal and donor reports as per schedule;
  • Support the Protection Team Leader with initiating and following-up on procurements and ensure their execution and tracking;

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor/Degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • 2 years of relevant experience in protection; relevant experience in GBV, PWSN or CP is needed
  • 2 years of experience in working in the humanitarian sector and/or with I/NGOs in Lebanon;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties.
  • Excellent knowledge of Protection minimum standards and basic principles
  • Ability to communicate and write clearly in English

Desirable

  • Master degree in social work and/or psychology
