You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Gender or Women’s Studies or other relevant field
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet
  • Experience working with diverse range of partners, including UN organizations, international and domestic NGOs, government and private sector institutions
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team of international and national personnel
  • Demonstrates commitment to UNDP’s mission, vision and values
  • Displays cultural, gender, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
  • Possesses affinity with or interest in gender equality, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System

Contract

This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

UNDP Saudi Arabia is recruiting a Gender Assistant to help ensure an adequate impact of gender mainstreaming throughout the country programme and consolidate an enabling environment for institutional effectiveness to deliver gender- responsive and sustainable results, as well as to assist the Country Office meet the expected benchmarks to receive the UNDP Gender Seal Certification.

• Facilitate knowledge building, management, and sharing • Support the coordination of the Gender Seal process • Provide support to project/programme teams • Support advocacy and partnership building efforts • Support in the identification of gender interventions for UNDP in Saudi Arabia

Social Sciences, Gender or Women’s Studies or other relevant field • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills; • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with office technology equipment; • Experience working with diverse range of partners, including UN organizations, international and domestic NGOs, government and private sector institutions; • Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing; • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team of international and national personnel; • Demonstrates commitment to UNDP’s mission, vision and values; • Displays cultural, gender, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability; • Possesses affinity with or interest in gender equality, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.

National UN Specialist Volunteers in Saudi Arabia are entitled to: - Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) at the amount of SAR 13,080.41 - Annual and learning leaves; - Free Medical and life insurance; and - Free access to different learning platforms.
