Globally and also in Egypt, UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled and that women and girls live in environments free of all froms of violence and discrimination. UNFPA’s new focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results. We need interns who are exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results. UNFPA is the lead agency in Egypt for the effective implementation of protection and response programmes towards the elimination of Gender-based Violence against women and girls, and to support the implementation of the the National Women’s Empowerment Strategy 2030 with focus on the protection pillar within line ministries and relevant entities in alignment with the new Country Program Cycle 2023-20207.

The objective of this position to recruit a qualified UNV, with good gender background (technical and/or academic) to support UNFPA’s expanding Gender portfolio. He/She will be working directly under the supervision of UNFPA’s Gender Specialist, and in coordination with the rest of the Gender, Harmful Practices, Youth, Reproductive Health and Humanitarian Pro-grams. The candidate is expected to provide support in drafting concept notes, implementation of Annual Work-Plans activities, following-up with partners and to provide administrative and logistical support.

The candidate will support also UNFPA’s Gender Program to initiate innovative partnerships, engage with Universities and to implement international and national campaigns with various stakeholders.

Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Representative and the Gender Specialist, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Support in the formulation of strategic concept notes & drafting partnership concepts pertaining to the mandate of UNFPA in addressing Gender and social norms, combatting GBV against women and girls as well as Harmful Practices; • Support the development of thematic and technical presentations on UNFPA’s gender portfolio, for internal and external communications; • Prepare needed meeting minutes, field monitoring reports and briefs of activities (capacity building workshops, meetings, visits among others) carried out under UNFPA’s gender programms; • Support in the formulation of proposals for possible new partners and funding opportunities;
• Support in administrative and regular logistical commitments for UNFPA’s Gender Programs; • Support the preparation of coordinated interventions to mainstream gender equality within UNFPA’s programs (youth, RH, HP and humanitarian among others); • Prepare articles, social media posts, website stories covering activities carried out un-der the program upon request; • Analyze and research information, prepare substantive briefs on possible areas of co-operation with new partners and/or donors; • Assist in the reporting and planning UN tools carried out by UNFPA; • Support in preparing and execution of events, conferences, workshops and large-scale outreach activities carried out by UNFPA; • Support in other operational and procurement activities as needed.

relevant professional experience in project management support, reporting, or development • The candidate must have very good knowledge of a range of Gender, Human Rights and Rule of Law issues, capacity building and training experience, and practice in project drafting and management is an advantage. • Previous experience with UN agency/ international development partner is an asset.
