You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, Engineering, information technology, management, economics, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in MEAL, preferably in humanitarian or development context
  • Excellent skills in communication, facilitation, database management, and data collection
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Excel, PowerPoint, KoBo etc..
  • Good spoken, reading and writing skills in English & Arabic with the ability to produce quality report

The Opportunity Gaza MEAL Assistant

Post location: Gaza Office

Contract Duration: End of December 2026

ROLE PURPOSE:

The MEAL Assistant will be a part of the MEAL team. He/she will assist the MEAL team with activities, including data collection, and analysis of data collected, coordination with the response programmes; assisting with planning field visits and assessments. S/he will support in gathering feedback and complaints from affected population in the different accountability mechanisms (e.g. focus group discussions, child participatory activities, post distribution monitoring).

This position aims to ensure high-quality monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning across SCI's programs in Gaza.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: MEAL Officer

Functional relationship: Closely work with MEAL team

Staff directly reporting to this post: none

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

A. Monitoring and Accountability:

  • Assist in programme updates for the response management and internal information sharing, including IPTT
  • Assist MEAL officer with data collection processes and analysis of data if needed
  • Conduct field monitoring visits (including the use of the Quality benchmark/monitoring checklist, exit interviews and PDM) and facilitating focus groups.
  • Assist with implementation of programme evaluations (data collection)
  • Support MEAL in conducting assessments as needed
  • Responsible for handling, documenting, confidentiality and security of all informational resource related to feedback and complaints from beneficiaries
  • Support Complaints and Feedback Mechanism, including communicating responses to complainants; liaise with programmes and operations to ensure prompt follow-up on feedback and complaints received

B. Documentation and Dissemination:- Contribute in preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on MEAL - Prepare field visit report and do debriefing and action planning with relevant staff

C. Coordination:

  • Coordinate and communicate with MEAL and relevant programme staff regarding feedback and complaints
  • Maintain liaison with MEAL unit and programme particularly field coordination/community mobilization team

D. Capacity Building

  • Support MEAL Officer in capacity building of field staff on data collection tools, accountability mechanisms, and quality benchmarks.
  • Excellent skills in communication, facilitation, database management, and data collection.
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Excel, PowerPoint, KoBo etc..
  • Excellent skills in analysing and presenting the data,
  • Verbal and written communication skills, Listening skills
  • Problem analysis and problem solving
  • Ability to work in a team with flexibility to undertake challenging task and adapt to different working conditions.
