Under the supervision of the Individual Giving Specialist, the proposed NOB Fundraising Officer (Digital) is responsible for supporting the strategic planning, developing and implementing digital marketing activities to maximize donor acquisition and retention efficiencies; to provide insights to inform optimization decisions through in-depth analysis and, through careful management of the NOA Fundraising Officer (Digital), deliver a smooth and effective digital operation. The NOB Fundraising Officer (Digital) is responsible to strategize and collaborate with other channels and sections, as well as with global and regional teams.

  • To support UNICEF Malaysia, achieve these ambitious goals, this role will contribute by:
  • Reaching scalability of fundraising efforts online upon achievement of results, buoyed by effective strategies and sound implementation
  • Achieving diversification on fundraising channels and likewise having diversification within digital
  • Anticipating trends and the evolution of digital over time, ensuring UNICEF remains on top of the latest updates, best practices and policy changes that will affect its digital fundraising operations
  • Providing guidance and recommendation on the direction of our digital efforts, whether through channels, content or analytics
  1. Develop the digital fundraising strategy and annual workplan.
  • Understand Malaysia’s digital opportunities and challenges in the market and analyze digital fundraising market trends. Analyze also main competitors.
  • Help develop the digital fundraising strategy in line with the Private Sector Plan.
  • Support the digital annual workplans which ensure the strategy is implemented and delivers the expected results.
  • Work and liaise with digital agencies and providers to deliver KPI’s related to the digital strategy and annual workplan and budget.
  1. Implement digital fundraising strategy and initiatives, including acquisition (pledge, leads, one-offs) and donor retention campaigns to deliver fundraising KPI’s across all digital channels.
  • Support in the planning, executing and evaluating the investment strategy of the different channels in order to obtain maximum profitability in terms of ROI.
  • Help plan, execute and evaluate the objectives, strategies and actions in the different digital capture channels: SEO/SEM, Display, Real Timing Biding, Social Media, affiliation, database capture actions, others, looking for maximum volume and profitability in terms of ROI.
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of CRO (conversion rate optimization) strategy. Analyze user journey and draw marketing insights to implement.
  • Focus on creating work processes that can be routinely tested with measurable results which have quick impact in fundraising income.
  • Help develop and optimize website, emails, prepare imagery and manage CMS systems.
  • Help develop and implement digital acquisition campaigns and donor retention campaigns.
  • Generating A/B testing actions and follow up on results.
  1. Develop digital leadership to coordinate and synergize the different fundraising digital efforts (UNICEF teams, suppliers, agencies…).
  • Push internal and external teams towards integration, to make sure all channels and teams work towards an aligned and shared objective.
  • Ensure performance from all external providers, suppliers and agencies. Follow up on results.
  • Liaise with Geneva PFP teams and report back on results.
  1. Create dashboards and metrics to follow up on Digital Performance Measurement and find the proper tools to implement.
  • Define a metrics plan and set performance indicators according to the Fundraising Strategy.
  • Propose improvements according to results obtained.
  • Generate and share monthly digital reports.
  • Help maintain dashboards to oversee key digital performance indicators.
  1. Implement all the required technological solutions to support the digital fundraising strategy while guaranteeing its compliance with the legal requirements.
  • Ensure that digital activities and platforms secure data transfer.
  • Guarantee the fulfillment of legal requirements in all digital activities, short and long term (GDPR, data management…).
  • Provide know-how on the use of ICT and CRM systems.
  1. Provide up-to-date analysis of digital fundraising best practices, opportunities and trends and innovation, from UNICEF network and external organizations.
  • Use innovation to identify new trends on digital transformation and to develop new business models and channels.
  • Understand how digital first organizations work and try to apply this principles in UNICEF day to day work.
  • Use the UNICEF network to apply best in class digital learning in Malaysia. Analyze best practices and apply learnings. Input best in class learnings and look to implement successful activities from the network and external organizations.
  • Actively participating in regional conversations to share and learn from other digital specialists in Asia.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A first level university degree (Bachelor) in Marketing, Business Administration, Digital Advertising, Digital Fundraising, or another relevant field is required
  • A minimum of 2 years professional experience in digital marketing experience
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and provide strategy to achieve results
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated verbal and written communications to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of project team
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, to prioritize assignments as necessary, and to work well under pressure
  • Experience in digital paid media marketing (search, display ad), email marketing, content management system, social media posting, eCommerce and analytics.
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills, including digital tracking and analytics
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or the local language is an asset
