The Fundraising Specialist (Individual Giving) will focus on supporting a portfolio of Country Offices and National Committees within the East Asia and Pacific Region to maximize the value of Individual Giving through the acquisition, retention, and value maximization of UNICEF donors across the Cash, Pledge and Legacy income streams.

The incumbent will coordinate and provide direct fundraising support on prioritized fundraising to markets in the region. They will ensure an integrated way of working across Individual Giving through the global and regional specialists, dependent on market prioritization and in alignment with digital and legacy market-facing roles. Particular focus will be on supporting the market’s shift towards increased digitally enabled revenue growth.

Key business areas will be pledge and cash acquisition, retention, and value maximization, including fundraising from individuals in emergencies and legacy fundraising. A key focus area will be identifying opportunities to integrate work across functions and channels and optimize results across online and offline activities

How can you make a difference?

  1. Under the supervision of the Fundraising Manager, and with reference to global and regional market prioritization, align priorities and coordinate efforts across Global Individual Giving, Regional Support Centers, Country Office, and National Committee teams to develop and optimize UNICEF’s Individual Giving programs in the East Asia and Pacific Region.
  2. Support offices to understand, and then implement, specific global strategies and priorities in alignment with the Fundraising Manager
  3. Provide direct technical support on identified areas of individual giving as required
  4. Work alongside the Country Office and National Committee fundraising teams to develop and monitor market-specific fundraising strategies and initiatives in alignment with global strategies, regional priorities, as well as local context, and using all available data sources
  5. Support offices to project manage priority projects that require PFP support and take the lead in project management when necessary
  6. Provide emergency fundraising support to specified markets in the event of a significant media-driven emergency, maximizing the short and long-term fundraising opportunities

Deliverables:

  1. Strategic and operational market documentation maintained, updated shared with appropriate PFP stakeholders
  2. RDM, PES, QFS, Peer Review, INDIGO, and other market data sources reviewed and used for mid-year reviews and planning discussions
  3. Country Office and National Committee strategic plans include actions and initiatives linked to global strategies and regional priorities
  4. Assigned PFP market support projects tracked, documented, and completed within agreed timeframes, including conducting the most appropriate coordination approach to ensure project members deliver on assigned tasks
  5. Monthly individual giving calls with assigned markets carried out, documented and shared
  6. Coordination calls with other market focal points such as Digital, Legacy, Donor Retention, Telemarketing and Mobile, Face to Face carried out on a regular basis

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in Marketing, Communications, Humanities, Fundraising, Business Administration, Social Sciences, International Relations, or another relevant field
  • Alternatively, a first level-University Degree in a relevant field combined with 7 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in direct marketing, individual giving, leading both acquisition and retention activities, with an extensive focus on monthly [pledge] giving, is required.
  • Knowledge of the UN system and familiarity with UNICEF programme activities are desirable.
  • A strong experience of working in a complex multi-channel campaign environment that includes direct dialogue (F2F, D2D, and TM), digital marketing, direct mail, and ideally DRTV, in a results-driven organization is required.
  • A strong experience with digital fundraising is required.
  • Experience of working in or with agencies to deliver growth in fundraising is desired
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.

Language requirement:

  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
