How can you make a difference?

The UNICEF Thailand Philanthropy Officer will help expand UNICEF’s impact for children by creating Major Gift, Foundation and other partnerships with leading influencers in Thailand. This includes refining and implementing strategies to engage philanthropists, philanthropic networks, and emerging social impact leaders to support UNICEF’s work. This role will also oversee select innovative approaches to resource UNICEF’s work and generate results for children.

The Philanthropy Officer will be under the strategic guidance and supervision of the Partnerships Manager. However, s/he is expected to take initiative and exercise judgment in carrying out responsibilities in consultation with the supervisor, including coordinating directly with UNICEF EAPRO Regional Support Center colleagues, working directly across UNICEF Thailand (TCO) teams, and engaging directly with high value prospects and partners.

Major Responsibilities

  • Philanthropic Partnerships: Identify and cultivate philanthropists able to advance UNICEF’s change strategies through strategic financial partnerships. Objectives include:
  • Utilizing existing and conducting new research, and managing existing relationships, secure at least one major philanthropic partnership;
  • Working with UNICEF teams to develop proposals;
  • Working with UNICEF global and regional teams, to engage regional and global philanthropy networks, including implementing regional strategies on engaging intermediaries such as wealth advisors.
  • Integrated partnership approaches: Working with involved UNICEF teams, advance a strategy of working across business, family office, wealth management and other networks to secure strategic partnerships advancing the UNICEF Thailand mission. This includes:
  • Securing at least 1 partner through cross-team partnership approaches;
  • Supporting the development of new research, cultivation, and monitoring methods for this approach, including adaptation of the UNISON CRM system.
  • UNICEF NextGen and crypto sector management: maintain contact with members of the UNICEF NextGen network and manage crypto sector partnerships, including:
  • Engaging with the NextGen community to identify partnership opportunities;
  • Executing crypto activations through UNICEF Thailand’s NextGen crypto partner(s).
  • Middle Donor strategy development support: working with Thailand and regional colleagues, support the work of a consultant to develop a ‘Middle Donor strategy’ engaging a broader group of individuals with high potential to support UNICEF’s mission.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Advanced university degree in a related field (i.e. marketing, economics, finance, business, communications)
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in new business development, banking and finance, advertising, account management, public relationships, sales or marketing.
  • Knowledge and experience in donor stewardship, resource mobilization and fundraising desired.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Thai, proficiency in MS-Office required; advanced skills in visual presentation development desired.
