Scope of Work

The GNC Helpdesk on Inter-Sectoral Collaboration (ISC), with the support of the GNC Coordination team and the GNC Inter-Sectoral Collaboration working group (ISC-WG) ensures support at global and country level.

At Global Level, the GNC ISC HD will:

  • Work with the ISC focal points from different clusters, at a minimum the Food Security, Health, and WASH global clusters, to support and facilitate inter sectoral collaborations between the global clusters, including support for the four global cluster coordinators’ work on ISC (ISC Platform)
  • Provide helpdesk function to address GNC partners’ requests for technical assistance on Inter-sectoral collaboration, through the GNC Technical Alliance (The Alliance) and other fora.
  • With the other cluster focal points, develop guidance, tools, and technical expertise related to bilateral and multi-sectoral/cluster collaboration.
  • Provide strategic representation of the GNC in key meetings and events related to intersectoral/cluster issues.
  • Provides strategic guidance to the GNC Coordination team, the GNC SAG and The Alliance’s Leadership Team on maximizing opportunities for greater collaboration with other sectors/clusters linking with focal points in other clusters, through strategic and technical platforms, to develop opportunities for collaboration, recognizing each cluster’s comparative advantages, reciprocity of benefit, synergy, alignment with the Grand Bargain and UN reform priorities.
  • Co-chair and facilitate the work of the GNC ISC working group

At Country Level, the GNC ISC HD will:

  • Support to country sector/cluster coordination mechanisms focusing primarily on
    • day-to-day remote technical support on strengthening ISC
    • provision of support for the implementation of ISC at country level
    • review and feedback on country ISC documents developed by the country teams
    • documenting and learning
  • Any other task assigned by supervisor.

Purpose of the assignment

The purpose of this consultancy is to strengthen inter-sectoral/cluster collaboration, in particular with the Health, WASH and Food Security clusters at the global, regional and country level, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the humanitarian response, through provision of quality strategic vision, technical guidance, support, mentoring and training.

The Individual Contractor will be home-based.

Estimated Cost of the Consultancy & Payment Schedule

Payment will be made on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. Please indicate an all inclusive monthly lumpsum to undertake this assignment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child, you will have...

  • Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, nutrition assessments, statistical analysis or relevant field;
  • At least 8 years of experience in nutrition in emergencies programming or nutrition, food security programme management, including proven experience of leading coordination of nutrition in emergencies responses in a range of settings including sudden onset natural disasters and conflict settings;
  • Experience in coordination and program management of nutrition sensitive inter-sectoral program in emergency context;
  • Fluency in oral and written English required. Fluency in French and other UN official languages is an asset.
