Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all Special Political missions, Agencies, Funds and Programmes of the UN system worldwide.

This position is located in the Service Management Unit (SMU), Service & Information Security Management Section (SISMS), within the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at the UNGSC/UNICTF in Valencia, Spain.

The Incumbent reports to and works under the supervision of the Chief, Service Management Unit.

The Front-End Web Developer IC will be performing the following duties:

  • Starting from the current SharePoint site, prepare a mockup of a new website, considering user experience and usability aspects, that will have to be validated by the supervisor.
  • Proactively contribute into a design resulting contextual, consistent, responsive, and intuitive.
  • Develop the new website based on the approved mockup, with several improvement cycles as per agreement with supervisor.
  • Following provided guidance, ensure compliance with all UN Security Standards and assist during its security assessment/test, fixing and improving the product based on the provided feedback.
  • Prepare test scripts and quality control validations.
  • Coordinate the deployment of the website with the relevant deployment team.
  • Create the relevant authorization structure, and assign the appropriate permissions, based on the Azure AD users/groups.
  • Migrate or link the content in the current SharePoint site to the newly developed site.
  • Provide technical documentation for the maintenance of the website developed.

    Qualifications/special skills High School Diploma or above is required. At least 7 (seven) years of experience in Front End web design and development is required. Experience with MS SharePoint Technology is required. Experience with HTML5, JavaScript, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and responsive web design is required. Experience with MS Power Platform is desirable. Experience with usability studies, accessibility assessment and user centered design principles is desirable.

    Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required
