The DCO Regional Office for Africa (DCO-Africa), based in Addis Ababa, supports 53 Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams across Africa in implementing the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063. It ensures coherent delivery of sustainable development initiatives through integrated policy and operational support.
This assignment supports DCO-Africa’s mission by making the Pact for the Future accessible to Francophone Gen Z audiences, empowering them to engage with and lead on global development issues.
The Pact for the Future, adopted at the 2024 Summit of the Future, outlines commitments on peace, development, climate, digital cooperation, human rights, and more. With 70% of Africa’s population under 30, translating this Pact into French in a way that resonates with Gen Z is essential for inclusive engagement.
Translation Scope:
• Translate the full messaging framework into French. • Ensure the language is clear, conversational, and culturally relevant for Francophone African Gen Z audiences. • Maintain the tone and intent of the original content while adapting idioms, metaphors, and examples appropriately.
Content to Translate: • 7 flyers covering: o Sustainable Development and Financing o International Peace and Security o Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Cooperation o Youth o Transforming Global Governance o Global Digital Compact (Annex) o Declaration on Future Generations (Annex)
Additional Tasks: • Translate Africa-specific examples and ensure cultural and linguistic relevance. • Provide footnotes and source references in French. • Suggest adaptations for Francophone youth engagement campaigns and social media strategies.
