You have:
- Completion of Secondary education is required.
- A University degree at Bachelor Level in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, Transport Planning, International Commerce, or equivalent field is an asset.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant progressively responsible experience in public or private sector managing international freight operations including air, sea, and land transportation modalities with at least two (2) years’ experience in managing international health supply chain operation with components of temperature sensitive logistics.
- Knowledge of global supply chain security, risk management, and compliance regulations is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and capability to develop and maintain broad diversified partnerships is required.
- Project management skills is required.
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is required.
- Professional written and spoken presentation skills, including for the development of reports, presentations, and the ability to synthesize complex supply chain documents for both technical and non-technical audiences is an asset.
- Experience in managing a team, particularly within a remote and/or matrix organizational structure is an asset.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Working knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
Contract
This is a G-7 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 7 years of experience, depending on education.

The salary for this job should be more than 5,360 USD.

The Freight Management Associate position is located in the Logistics Management Services (LMS) Team within Pillar 2 – Supply Operations in the UNFPA Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU). The position reports directly to the Freight Management Services Team Lead. The Freight Management Associate will work closely with other SCMU colleagues, a new integrated HQ division, the Humanitarian Response Division, other HQ Business Units, the Regional Offices and the Country Offices and with a number of external partners.
The position provides a supporting role to ensure an efficient logistics service for UNFPA commodities procured globally and at the local level.

The UNFPA Supply Chain Management Unit (SCMU) is self-funded and was made operational in January 2022. It is tasked with ensuring that UNFPA is able to effectively and efficiently support the delivery of life-saving reproductive health products and other programme supplies to the end user when and where they are needed. To achieve this, it is important to strengthen the capacity of governments and implementing partners to ensure coordination, end-to-end visibility and accountability on all supply chain and logistics management related activities, in particular for programme supplies, across all UNFPA programmes.
Job Purpose:
The Freight Management Associate (Development Supplies) is integral to the operational execution of practical, day-to-day aspects of freight services strategies to support UNFPA's Strategic Plan across 119 country programmes. This role entails direct involvement in hands-on tasks and supervision of a dedicated team within the Freight Services Team. The Freight Management Associate (Development Supplies) is responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of supplies, managing logistics, and ensuring adherence to operational standards for UNFPA’s development programmes and external partnerships.
The Freight Management Associate (Humanitarian Supplies) is integral to the operational execution of practical, day-to-day aspects of freight services strategies, particularly in humanitarian contexts. This position supervises a team dedicated to overseeing freight service operations, ensuring the timely and efficient movement of supplies in crisis situations for UNFPA’s humanitarian programmes and external partnerships.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
- Completion of Secondary education is required.
- A University degree at Bachelor Level in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, Transport Planning, International Commerce, or equivalent field is an asset.
- Qualification at Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT-UK) Level 3 Certificate in Logistics and Transport is an additional advantage.
Knowledge and Experience:
