Job Description

BACKGROUND: Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) is one of the leading providers of high-quality programming for displaced and persecuted populations around the world. The IRC develops innovative programs that respond to clients' unique strengths and needs, using our learning and experience to shape policy and practice, and highlighting and promoting best practices in service provision.

A program of the IRC’s Research, Analysis and Learning department, Framework is a national training and technical assistance (TTA) project that builds capacity of service providers and their partners to address labor trafficking in the United States. Framework is dedicated to the creation of tailored, engaging, and user-friendly resources, and the provision of in-person and remote assistance. Guided by human rights values, the Framework team works with survivors, service providers, and other experts to comprehensively understand the issue of labor trafficking and utilize proven knowledge-sharing practices to deliver TTA that is tailored to the needs of the anti-trafficking field.

SCOPE OF INTERN WORK: Under the direction of the Program Officer and in collaboration with a small, close-knit team, the Framework Data Intern will contribute to and lead projects that support the program’s goals of increasing identification of labor trafficking survivors, improving the quality and quantity of services available to survivors, and enhancing partnerships to create a coordinated community response. This position is remote.

COMMITMENT: Academic year (January-June/September 2022.)

PROJECT EXAMPLES: The Framework Data Intern will assist with data entry, analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: This internship will be ideal for a creative, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented person with a baseline understanding of and commitment to human rights work, an interest in the issue of labor trafficking, and a desire to develop knowledge and skills related to non-profit program administration. Survivors of trafficking are highly encouraged to apply.

• Bachelors required, Masters or coursework in social work, monitoring and evaluation, or a related field desirable AND/OR lived experience as a survivor of human trafficking

• Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office programs

• Ability to synthesize, analyze, and present data

• Good understanding and proven experience with data quality and analysis, preferably in a non-profit setting

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Framework is committed to creating a learning environment that provides interns with knowledge and skills that will prove useful in their future careers. Learning objectives are therefore developed collaboratively based on the intern’s interests and the program’s needs. Learning objectives may include:

1. The intern will enhance monitoring and evaluation skills.

2. The intern will strengthen data analysis and visualization skills.
