You have:
- Documented experience working with stakeholders across the public, private, and non-profit sectors in the UK, and an existing network of contacts.
- Experience within business development/sales, foundation partnerships or social impact related experience, ideally in the UK.
- Professional knowledge of private foundations, private philanthropists or corporate funders located in the UK.
- Capacity for flexible thinking and innovation to find win-win solutions between NRC and the UK-based private donor sector.
- Demonstrated experience in creating new partnerships, including identifying partnership opportunities, designing projects, brokering, and cultivating relationships.
- Documented experience and ability to engage at C-suite roles/senior levels in business and development sector contexts.
- Communication skills to build bridges between private organisations and individuals and the humanitarian sector.
- Documented experience in project planning and management.
Contract

Context
NRC UK was established in 2020 with the main objective of strengthening the profile, outreach and impact of the Norwegian Refugee Council as a humanitarian organisation in the United Kingdom.
A crucial part of this objective is to establish and develop relationships with the private sector, in order to access funding, skills, and strategic partnerships that improve the lives of people displaced by conflict. This role is to lead that engagement.
The successful applicant will work with the NRC’s UK Director and the Global Corporate Relations section to develop, monitor, and implement NRC’s foundations relations policies and strategies in the UK. This will include providing the leadership, capacity building and guidance to ensure that robust multiyear relationships are created at all levels of the organisation, that are safe, impactful and give good return on investment.
This role is offered on an initial full-time two-year contract basis (open to becoming permanent) paying between £50,904 to £53,088 per annum (plus an additional £3k London Weighting if applicable), with flexible working arrangements at their London office.

What you will do
The UK Foundations Funding Adviser is responsible for delivering the UK strategy for global foundations commitments, as well as contributing to the wider Global Corporate Relations section and organisational goals. The role will also work across all of NRC, engaging staff with different competencies, cultures and understanding to develop ideas on ways the UK private sector could provide value to NRC’s work.
Some of your day-to-day tasks will include;
- Provide leadership across NRC on specific partnerships available in the UK.
- Lead on developing and implementing a UK foundations fundraising strategy, with support from the NRC UK Director and the Director Corporate Relations Section.
- Develop strategies, and procedures for fundraising activities towards new and existing partnership within specific sectors or donor groups based in the UK, especially the private foundations.
- Represent and help train staff engaged in foundation and corporate partnerships across NRC in coordination with the Global Corporate Relations Section.
Develop expertise on specific NRCs needs/competency.
What you will bring
Documented experience working with stakeholders across the public, private, and non-profit sectors in the UK, and if possible, an existing network of contacts to draw upon.
- Experience within business development/sales, foundation partnerships and/or social impact or other relevant professional qualification, ideally in the UK.
- Professional knowledge of private foundations, private philanthropists or corporate funders located in the UK.
- Capacity for flexible thinking and innovation to find win-win solutions between NRC and the UK-based private donor sector.
- Demonstrated experience in creating new partnerships – including identifying partnership opportunities, designing projects, brokering, and cultivating relationships, negotiations and designing and formalizing partnership structures.
- Documented experience and ability to engage at C-suite roles/senior levels in business and development sector contexts, and to build trust-based relationships with senior-level executives.
- Communication skills to build bridges between private organisations and individuals and the humanitarian sector.
- Documented experience in project planning and management.
