Deliver training on psychosocial care for victims
You have:
- At least 10 years' proven practice in the psychosocial care of victims
- Experience in teaching and training legal professionals
- Fluent written and spoken French
- The candidate must have a university degree
- Experience in a sensitive context of serious human rights violations
Result of Service- A training module on the psychosocial care of victims for judges, lawyers and victims' associations - Practical exercises, if required
Work Location CONAKRY
Expected duration 5 days
Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver training programs to the target audience - Provide the tools and literature needed to understand the psychosocial care of victims. - Assist, support and advise on the preparation of protection and reparation programs for victims. The consultant will work in close collaboration with the Head of the UN Human Rights Capacity Building and Cooperation Unit.
Qualifications/special skills- The candidate must have a university degree - At least 10 years' proven practice in the psychosocial care of victims - Experience in teaching and training legal professionals - Experience in a sensitive context of serious human rights violations
Languages Fluent written and spoken French
Additional Information The trial of the events that took place on September 28, 2009 at the stadium of the same name is a historic event in the Republic of Guinea, in terms of the event itself, the number of victims involved, and the quality of the defendants. The opening of this trial on September 28, 2022 before the Dixinn court, relocated to the Conakry Court of Appeal, is an important milestone that has put an end to twelve years of waiting by victims of serious human rights violations (rape, murder, torture, etc.), their families and beneficiaries, and national and international public opinion in general.
In addition, the trial concerns the military authorities who were in power. The President of the CNDD (Captain Moussa Dadis Camara) and other military personnel are among those accused.
Over the past twelve years, the United Nations in general and UN-Human Rights in particular have contributed, through a UN International Commission of Inquiry into the events, technical assistance and advocacy, to a firm commitment by the transitional authorities to conduct this trial.
The progress of the trial to date has highlighted several problems relating to the victims of the events referred to above. According to the report of the international commission of inquiry, more than 157 people were killed and 109 women were victims of sexual violence.
