What will you do in this position?

Under the supervision of the Logistics Officer, the Forklift driver/ or operator will be responsible for operating the Forklifts and moving health commodities in the warehouse.

How can you make a difference?

In this position, you will have to:

  • Duties include using forklifts to unload deliveries, stacking boxes for storage, and moving wooden pallets around the warehouse.

  • Maneuvering forklifts safely in busy environments.

  • Safely stacking and unstacking large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets.

  • Moving goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport.

  • Unloading deliveries and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areas.

  • Ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.

  • Regularly checking forklift equipment for faults or damage, prior to use.

  • Systematically and without delay report any breakdowns found on the forklift so prompt action can be taken without causing delays in the operations.

  • Strictly respect the vehicle's /maintenance deadlines.

  • Ensure all planned preventive maintenance on forklifts is conducted as per the manufacturer’s specification and that records are kept accordingly.

  • Ensure only duly authorized persons are operating the forklift.

  • Respect the rules and regulations according to safety procedures in the warehouse.

  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the hierarchy on an ad hoc basis.

Education: Completion of secondary or high school education.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum two years of experience operating forklifts safely in the warehouse.

  • Holds appropriate license to operate a forklift and is adequately evaluated by WFP before operating a forklift.

  • Ability to work well in a team Knowledge of warehouse safety requirements.

  • Proficiency in operating technical machinery.

Language: Fluency (level C) in English language.
