Description of Organization: DDI integrates technical expertise with values-driven, cross-cutting priorities and modern approaches to the way USAID performs its work. It provides client-centered technical services to USAID’s Missions worldwide, supports programming to innovate, learn and address emerging issues, and provides technical leadership within the Agency and externally to enhance development impact.

Description of Position: This position will provide overall management responsibility within ITR/T's Knowledge and Insights team. The incumbent is responsible for the development and implementation of expert guidance for the Agency and outside audiences on the trends and key challenges regarding private sector engagement, training, communications strategies and related workstreams in ITR. In addition, the incumbent serves on the division’s management team along with other team leads, and it facilitates coordination as needed with other operating units (OUs).

This position leads a diverse team that: develops and manages global initiatives, as well as alliances with responsible partners; promotes sound, evidence-based programming across the development community on communication strategies and workstreams; builds the capacity of the USAID workforce and partners; provides guidance and support to USAID staff on communication strategy implications for their work; and collaborates/coordinates with other Agency operating units and the interagency.

Future of Work Designation: This position has been designated as Telework Eligible (from three to eight days per pay period).

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • You must have at least three years of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level 03 of this position. Examples of specialized experience include:
    • Demonstrated history of working at the intersection of digital technology and international development, with at least three years of experience managing teams focused on this topic;
    • Manage initiatives or technical assistance programs that focus on capacity building, strategic communications, monitoring and evaluation, and multi-stakeholder partnerships;
    • Demonstrated capacity for (or experience in) leading a team and fostering an environment of collegiality, integrity, empowerment, collaboration, and professional development;
    • Demonstrated ability to translate high level strategic vision and thinking into actionable programs;
    • Leading the development and delivery of specialized trainings; and
    • Experience simultaneously managing multiple projects and workstreams.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
