Overview

Support community-based LFS activities at Bambasi Refugee Camp

You have:

  • Fresh graduate with a degree in Agricultural economics, agronomy, agricultural science, rural development and agricultural extension and other related field of study.
  • Passed the university exit exam with higher academic achievements/grade.
  • Basic knowledge of LFS activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interested in working within the humanitarian sector and contributing to LFS initiatives.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Good knowledge of the area and context in the Benishangul Gumuz Region.
  • Fluency in local languages is a requirement.
  • Some experience working on community mobilization activities in a humanitarian/recovery context.

Position: LFS intern (one person)

Reports to: LFS Team Leader

Supervision of: N/A

Duty station: Bambasi Refugee camp

Travel: 10%

Duration and type of contract: 5 months

Qualifications

Generic professional competencies:

  • Fresh graduate with a degree in Agricultural economics, agronomy, agricultural science, rural development and agricultural extension and other related field of study.

Responsibilities

Role and responsibilities

Internship offers an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in LFS work, specifically in addressing issues related to community engagement The intern will assist in a variety of tasks within LFS department, working closely with the team to support community-based LFS activities, ensure the safety and dignity of individuals, and contribute to the documentation and monitoring of LFS activities at the duty location .

Generic responsibilities

  1. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  2. Assist a range of support with the implementation of the LFS portfolio according to the plan of action.
  3. Implements independently procedures and activities within own function or core competency as delegated.
  4. Responsible for organizing and delivery of tasks in line with priorities and standards.
  5. Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialist area of work in which technical assistance and support are being provided, to be most effective in supporting the team.
  6. Use initiative in day-to-day problem-solving in line with agreed procedures, priorities, and standards for the area of work.
  7. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  8. Ensure proper filing of documents according to NRC policy.
  9. Promote and share ideas for improvement in your area of expertise.

Specific responsibilities

  1. Assisting in conducting raid need assessments and interviews and engage with the community.
  2. Support in documenting LFS works and provide updates on activities under follow-up, ensuring that all data is handled with strict confidentiality.
  3. Contribute for people we work with entry and reporting, ensuring that all LFS -related activities are properly recorded and analyzed.
  4. Assist in organizing and facilitating awareness sessions and training workshops on LFS issues, including Self-help group, business plan and bylaw preparation, other related topics.
  5. Support in the implementation of community outreach activities aimed at increasing awareness about the project intervention protection.
  6. Provide logistical and administrative support during field visits, protection assessments, and related activities.
  7. Collaborate with the LFS team to monitor and follow up on LFS tasks, providing relevant assistance to individuals in need.
  8. Support in organizing Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and community meetings to discuss LFS concerns and ensure community participation.
  9. Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation on LFS activities and observations, summarizing key findings and progress.
  10. Adhere to NRC standards for ethical service delivery, data confidentiality, and safeguarding principles.
  11. Other Duties: Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to support the LFS project operations.
