Fire Safety Officer

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Under the direct supervision of OIC Air Operations Bor and in coordination with Aviation Fire Safety Officer/Marshal, supporting UNMISS Aviation operations by providing firefighting and rescue services in accordance with established rules and regulations, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
- Responsible in instal, inspect and maintain of UNMISS firefighting equipment and materials at airfields and helipads;
- Ensure intergrity of all firefighting equipment and materials at airfileds and helipads;
- Conduct relevant trainings for all firefighters and drivers on the proper operation of all firefighting equipment at airfields and helipads;
- Conduct fire investigations to establish causes of fires and make appropriate preventive recommendations for future uses;
- Perform for fire safety surveys at airfileds/helipads and making recommendations to the fire safety officer for effective fire prevention and protective measures;
- Keeping records of all firefighting equipment and materials at different airfields and helipads and advising the Aviation fire Safety officer on the improvement, replenishment and replacement of fire equipment , materials and chemicals;
- Respond to aircraft fires, hazardous spills and structural fires on airport/airfield or helipad property;
- Assist for Aviation Fire safety officer in his day to day duties
- Perform other duties related to fire fighting and prevention as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Secondary education
Education - Additional Comments:
- Basic certificate in aviation firefighting and rescue (ICAO 111 or equivalent).
- Basic First Aid/Life Support qualification is an asset
- Training in basic instructional techniques is an asset
Required experience:
36 Months
Experience remark:
- At least 03 years professional experience in firefighting operations in the field of aviation, prefereably at level of leading Fireman/Crash tender Operator
Language skills:
- English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
Area of expertise:
Firefighting and rescue services
Area of expertise details:
- General knowledge of international procedures and regulations for firefighting operations, airside vehicle operations and aviation operations required.
- Basic Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting certificate and basic First AId certificate are mandatory
- Experience in VHF radio communications.
- Experience with a large international organization is an added asset.
- Valid driving license for cars, trucks and fire rucks/heavy equipment with safe driving record.
- Computer skills: Proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
