JOB PURPOSE

The Financial Reporting, Risk & Compliance (FRRC) team exist to over manage the global statutory audit and consolidated financial statement of World Vision International, and ensure a robust internal control environment across the globe, working closely with Global Field Finance, other Finance teams in the Global Centre.

The role is responsible for managing staff in this endeavor and the purpose of this role is to:

  • Manage staff in the operational management of year-end audit process,
  • Supervise in all financial reporting and compliance related matters for the WVI global entity;
  • Identifying gaps in existing global finance policies and procedures and work with colleagues to support changes to enhance practice in the Global Centre, Regional Offices, Field Offices and Support Offices, where appropriate;
  • Manage the collation, reporting and analysis of internal audit findings and internal control self-assessments by offices;
  • Identify and lead projects to improve processes and practices of the team and global finance processes, with a continuous improvement and customer focused mindset.

SCOPE / DISTRUBUTION OF RESPONSABILITES

45% - Annual external audit and global financial statements:

  • Supervise a team in the operational management of the year-end close and audit process, including:
    • Review of materials for training and communications year-end reporting process.
    • Review detailed schedules and workpapers for external audit, based on information from Vision Fund International, Global Field Finance, Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis, Financial Data & Capability and Global Internal Audit teams.
    • Be the key liaison with external auditors, liaising with Field Offices and other stakeholders as appropriate for auditor information requests, and monitor the team to ensure all requests are delivered on a timely, accurate basis.
    • Review the information from entities in the consolidated group for external auditor’s selections.
  • Supervise a team in the preparation of the consolidated financial statements of World Vision International, including:
    • Ensure appropriate controls and reconciliation in the consolidation of individual reports for subsidiaries and affiliates (including Field Offices, VFI, Global Centre and some Support Offices).
    • Analyse the year-on-year movement of the consolidated group and prepare analysis (in PowerBI) for senior review.
    • Review reports to ensure all adjustments made to comply with US-GAAP.
    • Review of eliminating entries upon financial consolidation.
    • Review of appropriate disclosure notes.
    • Prepare and/or review file notes and position papers to document accounting treatment of transactions and disclosures.
    • Drive new processes designed to collect information required for new accounting standards, or existing standards where business processes, systems or activities change.
  • Proactively identify changes to US-GAAP and remain current with US-GAAP and technical accounting and reporting matters, to identify impacts to WVI reporting and initiate projects to incorporate changes to global reporting.
  • Liaise with WVUS on the Single Audit and the preparation of the combined financial statements, ensuring completeness and accuracy.

15% Support a strong internal control environment across the Partnership:

  • Identify gaps in existing CAFO group policies and procedures, focusing primarily on finance policies and procedures, and work with colleagues to support changes to policies and procedures to enhance practice in the Global Centre, Regional Offices, Field Offices and Support Offices, where appropriate.
  • Review the collation, reporting and analysis of internal audit findings and internal control self-assessments by Partnership offices.
  • Support the WVI Loan Committee by ensuring a strong process for the coordination and review of business cases and reporting to the Committee on the status of loans, ensuring these reconcile to the balance sheet.
  • Manage team to ensure the maintenance of team pages on WV Central to ensure communications to the Partnership via this platform are up to date.

10% Compliance management

  • Review drafted compliance reporting for the global consolidated entity, including OECD reporting, statutory reporting, tax filings, government reporting.

10% Support accurate Global Centre ledger, P&L and balance sheet

  • Review reconciliations prepared by the Accounting team, identify reconciling items that required action and work with colleagues to resolve and close as appropriate.
  • Review accuracy of prepayments and accruals to ensure liabilities and assets are complete.
  • Review of the monthly funding reconciliation.

10% Staff management.

5% Continuously improve processes and practices with a customer focused mindset

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and oversee smaller initiatives driven by staff.
  • Seek opportunities for automation, improvements in quality and efficiency by utilising technology (which may include but is not limited to Power BI, MS form, PowerApps, Sharepoint, Smartsheet, UI Path etc.).
  • Remain current and increase knowledge in related finance areas utilizing self-study and/or continuing professional education efforts.

5% Other tasks as requested by manager.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience, education, training, license, registration, and certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or the equivalent.
  • Has minimum of 4 years of experience in finance and accounting role.
  • At least 2 years from a public accounting firm strongly desired.
  • Accredited with CPA (Institute of Chartered Accountants) or equivalent professional accounting body.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrates effective computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite, Lotus Notes, intranet and Internet, and various software applications and databases used in work efforts.
  • Experience in building reporting and utilising data models in PowerBI or similar software to a proficient level.

Language Requirements:

  • High command/fluency in English both written and oral communication skills. Other language will be an added advantage.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

  • This role involves working with management and staff across any time zone, working in a virtual /geographically dispersed / multi-culturally team.
  • Work would be principally remote. The position might require the ability and willingness to travel nationally or internationally up to 1% of the time.
