Your team The Directorate General Market Operations is seeking applications for Financial Market Analyst positions in the Market Operations Frameworks Division and the Market Operations Solutions and Innovations Division. Our Directorate General has around 220 staff members ensuring that the ECB’s monetary policy decisions are implemented and appropriately reflected in financial markets.

In the Market Operations Frameworks Division, we monitor, analyse and assess the performance of the Eurosystem’s monetary policy implementation framework and structural developments in the Eurosystem’s balance sheet. We develop, maintain and assess the counterparty, collateral, emergency liquidity assistance, net financial asset, and domestic asset and liability management frameworks, coordinate the related inputs of the national central banks and assess related requests and developments. We formulate policy proposals to adjust the various frameworks to the challenges posed by climate change and by developments in financial technology.

In the Market Operations Solutions and Innovations Division, we support, maintain and develop the applications used to conduct the ECB’s monetary policy and portfolio management operations. We leverage technology to provide innovative solutions, including in process automation, data visualisation and analytics, for the entire Directorate General.

The positions offer unique opportunities to gain hands-on experience in central banking operations for applicants with an interest in financial data analysis, financial markets and/or monetary policy implementation.

We actively support professional development for our staff. Besides learning opportunities such as training and mentoring, we encourage and support horizontal mobility after some years in the same position.

The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.

As a Financial Market Analyst in the Market Operations Solutions and Innovations Division, you will:

- drive innovation in business processes for the Division and the Directorate General Market Operations more broadly by leveraging automation, new technologies, data analytics and visualisation tools; - take part in a range of machine learning and AI projects, including sentiment analysis, building large language model (LLM)-powered systems and performing statistical analysis; - analyse and configure financial instruments in the ECB’s treasury management system and support users to ensure that operations run smoothly; - help to support, maintain and develop applications used to conduct market operations; - develop, perform and organise manual and automated testing of these applications.

As a Financial Market Analyst you will contribute to the operational and analytical tasks of the Directorate General, working closely with experts and other analysts.

You will have a unique opportunity to develop your teamwork skills and gain hands-on experience, delivering insights, findings, reports, presentations and other analytical outputs to colleagues in your division and diverse stakeholders across the Eurosystem.
