With its 8,000 employees, the Danish Refugee Council is one of the world’s largest NGOs and we are looking for a skilled English-speaking financial controller to join our Budgeting and Reporting team.

Who are we?

The Department of Finance, Supply Chain and Risk (FRISC) consists of more than 70 colleagues divided in 4 divisions. The budgeting and reporting team consists of 5 financial specialists and business partners, members of the Corporate Finance division and is tasked with the delivery and coordination of the global budgeting process, the financial reports to senior management and the Board, as well as the annual statutory audit, for the whole organisation whose annual turnover is 3.5 billion DKK.

About the job

The purpose of the position is to provide financial reporting and budgeting support and be the business partner to designated organisational areas. You will also be given opportunities to further develop existing processes and be a key part of taking DRC monthly/quarterly financial reports to the next level.

More precisely, your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide monthly reports on the organisational areas designated to the position
  • Provide financial analysis of financial information related to the designated organisation areas
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes for the designated organisational areas
  • Support the annual audit process and provide inputs to the audit as requested
  • Support the development of financial policies and processes
  • Ad hoc tasks and other cross cutting financial tasks

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to be service oriented and willing to use your financial skills, love for data and ability to translate those for non-financial audiences to help the organizational areas that you will be supporting. A keen interest in the work of DRC will be vital to ensure that you understand the contextual and operational challenges of the organisation. In addition to having an ability to problem solve and provide solutions you appreciate the importance of meeting deadlines and delivering on commitments.

Required

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant field (finance, accounting, business administration)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar finance role
  • Good English communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience in using Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP (or other ERP)
  • Experience in using O365 applications including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of applicable Danish and International accounting standards

Desirable

  • Experience working in or with a not for profit organisation (it could be from an auditor or consultant perspective for example)
  • Experience working with BI / Power BI

We offer

Contract length: permanent

Working hours: 37 including lunch time

Workplace: Borgergade 10, Copenhagen

Start date: August 1, 2023

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC (agreement for Academics) or other relevant agreement. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
