NRC Geneva is looking for an experienced and dynamic Finance Technical Officer with an analytical and curious mindset to provide accounting management and financial support and ensure that NRC Geneva, including hosted projects/organisations (IDMC/ACAPS/NORCAP etc), adhere to the NRC Financial Handbook, NRC policies, donor and auditor requirements.
What you will do:
Working closely and reporting to the NRC Geneva Finance Manager, the Finance Technical Officer will provide accounting management and financial support to the NRC Geneva representation office.
The Finance Technical Officer will be part of the Support Unit, working with ca. 70 staff across NRC Geneva https://www.nrc.no/, the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre http://www.internal-displacement.org/ and ACAPS https://www.acaps.org/ as well as hosted sub-tenant organisations working from NRC and IDMC offices.
The main roles and responsibilities for this position are:
- Ensure that Rep. Office, including hosted projects/organisations (IDMC/ACAPS/NORCAP etc), adhere to Financial Handbook, NRC policies, donor and auditor requirements
- Implement NRC’s financial systems, routines and procedures
- Maintain overall budget control and monitor cash flows
- Provide regular analysis and reports
- Implement anti-corruption policy, including counter terrorism vetting
- Train staff in financial matters, logistics and other support related issues
- File/archive all financial documents according to NRC standards
- Responsible for accurate booking of NRC activities and hosted projects IDMC/ACAPS/NORCAP etc in accordance with the financial rules
- Prepare bank accounts and cashbox reconciliations;
- Verify that vouchers and supporting documents meet NRC standards before payment;
- Process timely payment of staff salaries, invoice for contractors, suppliers and other expenditures;
- Monitor balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly Balance Reconciliation Sheets reports (BRS);
- Reconcile and verify the annual declarations and tax statements to staff/relevant institution.

What you will bring:
We are looking for someone with relevant educational background in financial management and at least 5-7 years of experience as Finance Officer or similar functions. Do you have proven experience with payroll and personnel administration in Switzerland, accounting, bookkeeping (including analytical or project accounting), budget and cash-flow monitoring and bank reconciliation?
In addition, you will have:
- Strong motivation to work with humanitarian issues;
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and to deliver results with limited supervision;
- Ability to function under pressure and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Excellent organisational and computer skills (including excellent command of spread sheets);
- Self-motivated and with a positive attitude;
