Salary Level: Starting salary for this role will be $76,800.00 USD annually - commensurate with professional experience.

The Department

The Finance System & Reporting Team provides support to Mercy Corps’ HQ and field operations in the areas of finance systems, integrations, and processes, reporting, and knowledge management. Our mission is to increase the level of knowledge and the availability of tools and resources to promote the highest possible standard of financial accountability, transparency, efficiency, and donor compliance. The team is responsible for leading and coordinating the implementation of Mercy Corps global financial accounting and reporting solutions and for supporting integration with a growing suite of applications.

The Position

This role will support the implementation of finance systems to improve business processes. The role will support the team in meeting its priorities to automate and improve existing processes and to continuously improve MC’s capacity to allocate donor resources. The Project Manager will liaise with multiple stakeholders with a broad range of technical knowledge and a variety of requirements, thus the ability to communicate effectively to a diverse audience will be essential.

Essential Responsibilities

FINANCE SYSTEMS SUPPORT

  • Lead finance systems implementations and improvements such as forecasting/budgeting tools, reporting tools, integrations support, and system upgrades ensuring adherence to timeline and budget.

  • Collect requirements for assigned projects. Set and manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

  • Devise solutions for complex challenges including multi-currency financial consolidation, staff costs reporting and allocation, and phased roll-outs of key financial infrastructure.

  • Research and recommend system functionality to achieve team objectives

  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external consultants to ensure selected systems are implemented in line with requirements and integrate effectively with other systems as required.

  • Support the development of training curriculum for new/improved systems

  • Document project implementation/system specifications as well as procedural/maintenance requirements

  • Troubleshoot issues reported by users and coordinate resolution with other stakeholders.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Works Directly With: International Finance, Corporate Finance, Field Finance, Information Technology, Grants & Compliance, Human Resources, and Global Procurement

Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

  • Knowledgeable and experienced planner that can assist teams in refining requirements to achieve critical objectives

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience writing technical proposals and project documentation

  • Familiarity with budgeting and workforce planning in a donor-funded organization

  • Familiarity with not-for-profit GAAP and general not-for-profit compliance requirements. USG grant management experience a plus.

  • 3 to 5 years progressive experience with use, design, implementation, and support of financial accounting and planning systems in a medium to large organization

  • Experience working with IT to design and manage data/system integrations, data ETL processes, and reporting systems. Experience working with cloud solutions a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency writing technical business cases, functional requirements specifications, and process and procedure documentation

  • Intermediate SQL experience is preferred

  • Experience with reporting tools is a plus, especially PowerBI or Jet Reports

  • Experience with Sylogist (Serenic) Navigator and Adaptive Planning preferred.

Success Factors

This role will require exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills in setting up and implementing Mercy Corps financial systems and policies and procedures. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize will be critical.

The successful candidate will have an ability to interact effectively across international and corporate program and finance teams successfully, in multiple capacities including requirements gathering, training, and troubleshooting. They will have a demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information. They will possess an orientation towards establishment and maintenance of internal financial ccontrols. The most successful Mercy Corps staff members have a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The Project Manager is a fully remote position based in the current Mercy Corps US/Europe location. Base location requires connectivity to enable remote work from home.

Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting.
