The Finance Specialist assists the program and finance teams in accurately controlling and managing the implementation of accounting systems with a primary focus on supporting the IRC in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The Finance Specialist provides internal and external partners with timely, accurate and understandable financial information and reports.

Major Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with IRC’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as generally accepted accounting principles and donor requirements, for both the office and donors. - Coordinate the implementation of IRC's internal control procedures to safeguard the organization's assets. - Support daily financial activities: - Prepare entries and approve invoice journals, - Invoice and report on Accounts Receivables, - Resolve journal entry discrepancies. - Assist in month-end/year-end closing tasks: - Prepare monthly billing with review of account transactions to ensure accurate coding and completeness, - Produce variance analysis report, - Reconcile accounts. - Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding of donor policies, regulations, and procedures, and share this knowledge with the programs team. - Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

- Two (2) years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience working in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or administrative support, preferably in a non-profit setting - Strong commitment to ensuring the success of the IRC mission while adhering to the values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality as defined in the IRC Way - Solid computer-based accounting skills, including spreadsheets and other financial related software programs - Proficient in general office software programs like MS Word, Excel, email, and internet - Proven track record to work as a team member in a cross-cultural environment - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively - Ability to optimally work with remote teams through telephone, email, videoconference, and other methods of correspondence - Fluency in English, written and spoken

Working Environment: Standard office work environment.
