About Street Child
Street Child is a rapidly growing, child-focused humanitarian and development organisation. Since 2008, we have supported over 1.5 million children across 25 countries. We work through a network of more than 200 local and national actors.
In Liberia, Street Child has operated since 2013, supporting over 50,000 children to access improved protection and education services. With a current program portfolio of around $1 million, our work focuses on addressing barriers to education in Montserrado, Margibi, Maryland, and River Gee counties.
We are now entering the fourth and final year of the Education for Every Child Today (EFECT) project, in partnership with Education Above All (EAC), which aims to enrol 13,500 out-of-school children into education.
Job Summary
The Finance Officer is responsible for supporting finance functions at Street Child International – Liberia’s Monrovia and field offices. The role supports internal control, accounting systems, reconciliations, payments, cash management, and procurement, ensuring compliance with policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Control
- Ensure compliance with Street Child Liberia and donor financial policies and procedures.
- Support in developing and documenting finance policies and systems.
- Monitor financial activities and report risks to the Finance Manager.
- Ensure legal and tax compliance.
- Represent Finance on tender committees within assigned thresholds.
Cash/Bank Management
- Support and review cash/bank transactions.
- Conduct and document weekly cash counts.
- Review monthly multi-currency cashbooks and reconciliations.
- Support field offices with cash needs and planning.
Treasury and Cash Flow
- Coordinate bank instructions and manage account access.
- Ensure timely preparation and review of bank and cash reconciliations.
- Prepare Cash Transfer Requests and ensure adequate balances.
Payment Processing & Documentation
- Review and process payments in line with procurement and documentation standards.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors and beneficiaries.
- Maintain and enforce document retention procedures and filing systems.
- Ensure restricted access to financial records.
Month-End Close
- Coordinate monthly close-out activities.
- Review financial reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Follow up on outstanding reconciliation items.
Staff Training
- Assist with finance and procurement training for staff.
- Support capacity building on donor compliance and financial procedures.

Education & Skills
