Contract
This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.
The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing a variety of specialized tasks in finance functions, ensuring accurate and timely delivery that complies with UNICEF financial rules and regulations, whilst demonstrating the capacity to research, adapt and evaluate irregular cases, and also to recommend improvements to process delivery and design.
- Verifying, approving, and processing invoices related to Logistics Services. Triangulate the supporting documents and ensure the figures presented are as per contractual agreements and actual bank deposits before processing the payment.
- Ensure the deliverables as planned in the service contract agreement (LTA) and the payment are aligned and ensure proper authorization before paying.
- Selects and enters data from a wide variety of documents, verifying and ensuring accuracy by checking sources, making necessary calculations, and assuring inclusion of all relevant data.
- Prepares recurring reports as schedules and special reports, as required for budget preparation, audits or other reasons.
- Initiates correspondence to verify data, answers queries, and obtains additional information on accounts and financial transactions, as required.
- Prepares detailed cost estimates, and participates in budget analysis and projects, as required.

• Afghanistan is an L1 emergency, non family, E duty station with a 4-week R&R cycle.
• Due to security, all UN Staff reside at UNOCA compound.
• Once in country UNV will be teamed up with a ‘buddy’ to help with the following:
o Greet you at the UNICEF ACO Reception upon your arrival from airport.
o Lead you to your accommodation and handover the accommodation keys to you
o Give you a tour of the UNOCA compound to see the AIB bank branch, restaurants,
shops, gym, Joint Medical Service (JMS) etc.
o Introduce you in person to all staff in the respective sections/
Dress Code: When traveling outside of the compound, men should wear trousers. Women are asked to wear ankle-length pants or skirts with long tops (such as tunics or Indian kurtas) and do not show any cleavage. Women should have a head covering/scarf if going outside the compound. Please have one on hand for your arrival into Kabul airport. During working hours, in summer, tunic tops with mid- or full-length sleeves (not short sleeves) are acceptable and open sandals are common. On the compound, the dress is more casual on weekends and evenings, and it is acceptable to wear less conservative dress during off-work hours.
