OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The overall objective of APR within the Department of Finance (FNM) is to provide policy guidance and support throughout the Organization and to manage the production of WHO annual financial statements and accompanying reports. APR ensures the integrity of the Organization wide.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent is responsible for contributing to:

1- Monthly fund analysis, reconciliations and reporting.

2- Setting-up, funding and monitoring staff entitlement work plans.

3- Preparing quarterly staff entitlements fund reports.

4- Reviewing and monitoring planned costs, award distribution and award budget for staff entitlements work plans.

5- Processing and tracking separation by mutual agreements (SMAs).

6- Reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts, incl maintaining records7- Managing external audit SharePoint site / other tools.

8- Preparing status reports on pending recommendations, aging, open audits.

9- Provide support to external auditors including liaising with the Global Service Desk to timely create profiles and secure access to ERP.

10- Acting as a back-up to upload journal vouchers and prepare expenditure batches related to GL team work. 11- Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: First university degree in accounting or finance related area. Desirable: And advanced level university degree in one of the above mentioned areas. CPA or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Essential: A minimum of 2 years of relevant practical experience in the field of accounting or finance. Experience with an ERP system, such as Oracle. Desirable: Experience in a large multinational organization.

Progressively responsible administrative experience in WHO and knowledge of its structure, administrative procedures, and expenditure & financial accounting desirable.

Previous experience working with SharePoint, an advantage.

Exposure at the international level.

Skills

High level of analytical skills and ability to handle a large volume of work accurately under time constraints; ability to communicate effectively; deal patiently and tactfully with people ofdifferent national and cultural backgrounds; demonstrated skills and proficiency in the use ofcomputers and information technology, especially spreadsheets. Understanding of complex structures, administrative procedures, expenditure and financial accounting. Work requires keeping up to date with new/changing procedures, regulations and systems. Strong skills in advanced Excel functions, such as pivot table, VLOOKUP-up and others.

REMUNERATION

WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars. The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 48,805 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 3551 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
